Title: yey, sailed through mot
Post by: ScuttleRX on May 06, 2004, 04:22:13 PM
After a panicky few days I have put car in and it went straight through, was all prepared to go through a sh*tload of hassle, eg getting advice on leaning out fuelling through power fc, even driving to Reading, but I think I ended up getting the non-cat test as their computer only listed up to a 1995 which is why i got through no prob.

Nice to know theres a rotary friendly, albeit accidentally, tester close to home :)

my lambda reading was 1.26, out of interest would that have passed the more stringent emmisions test. This is on fast idle

Scuttlerx,

Congrats on gettin through!

I have to try and get my 96 through on Wednesday this week.

Did you tell them you had a 96 and they gave you the non-cat test because there\'s no entry for a 96 as the computer only goes up to 95 or do you mean they gave you the 95 test because it was the most up to date one they had???

I would have though they would have given you the stricter emissions test if they knew it was a 96??

By the way I presume the computer only lists emissions figures for UK cars??

Just trying to work out what the best thing to say is on Wednesday..... I\'ve got a private plate so may try and blag a 95 test especially as that\'s what my current MOT says!!

yeah told them straight up it was a \'96 import, she clicked on the drop down menu for the year, and as there was no 96 so she just clicked on \'95.

Don\'t know what to suggest really, like you say you might be able to get away with it having a private plate, but if you tell \'em you have a \'96 and they do a \'95 test then its down to them not you if things were to go pear shaped (not that I can think of a situation where it would).

Anyway, hope it all goes well for you, let us know how you get on :)

Ta for that...

If they gave you a 95 test from their computer then wouldn\'t that be UK car limits??? Thing is that the emissions levels for a UK car (FD13B2)are:

CO 0.5% at normal idle

CO 0.3% at fast idle
HC 200ppm at fast  idle
Lambda 0.97-1.6 at fast idle

Can an import pass these with stock ECU and cat ??

Do you have your figures?? I see you had a lambda of 1.26

BTW stricter emissions limits are:

CO 0.5%
HC 200ppm
Lambda 0.97-1.03

Looks like all they\'ve given you is a bigger lambda range

Can\'t decide whether to get them to give me a 95 UK test or non cat test for an import......

Cheers

Angus

:D Nice one mate!

On my sheet I had a CO reading at fast idle of 0.1, but that was only one I had, rest were 0?? thought as it was non-cat they wernt needed or something.
I won\'t pretend to understand, i\'ll just take me ticket and be off  \'Walking
