Title: intermediate shaft - steering linkage
Post by: jackaleks on December 20, 2009, 02:35:58 PM
how does this come out?

i\'ve undone the topmost clamping bolt (nearest the bulkhead) and the two bolts on the linkage by the rack. it won\'t move! is the only way to pull the shaft out in the cabin?

thanks,

there is a slip joint that you can loosen and it shortens the shaft,, about three inches from the top

Also if you are going to try and pull the steering wheel towards you, wear a crash helmet, otherwise you might get a broken nose when it releases lol

if so, that\'s not budging. i\'ve soaked it in penetrant and i can\'t see how to make it move either way?

got it off :)

in the end the easiest way to get it off was to undo the column in the cabin and yank it. the only join it would come apart at was the CV joint at the bottom by the rack.
