Its a good use for those blanking plates!
that is a really short gear stick!
nice work also :)
ohh i like that!!!!!
few questions
1 - does the power switch turn the usb on and off
2 - what voltage have you got to the usb
3 - where is the full write up and pics !!
Stu
i took a cheapo cig lighter socket usb car charger to pieces, it has a little PCB inside with a chip and a few capacitors to regulate the voltage. I desoldered the usb plug (but you could do it with a usb extension plug) , desoldered the wires to the led & extended the wires, added an inline 3amp blade fuse holder and a switch, and took the dremel to a switch blank as you can see! Then epoxy everything into a solid block in the back of the switch blank. Power from the original cig lighter via a vampire clamp and earth to a bolt by the handbrake.
took about an hour and a half probably, be quicker next time!

switch turns usb power on and off, since the usb car charger already had a built-in voltage regulator its the proper 5v usb.
i did take a few more pics but they\'re not that helpful, i will dig them out.
