A bargain for just over 8 grand. Awesome.
Has it got the brown interior though with red coachwork or is it a trick of the light?

Yep shame about brown interior, the work on the underside & engine bay is meticulous, must have taken years!
I\'d be scared  to drive it incase it got a stonechip or dirt on the underside!
A real timewarp machine,beautiful,mmmmmm

That\'s the problem with mint / concours/ unused..delivery milage only type of cars.
There are quite often cars surfacing which were bought new, never registered and kept under a sheet in storage. I remember a V12 E-type a couple of years back and also an early RS Turbo.

Trouble is, do you keep it in your garage to look at,but not drive, in which case there\'s not much point in having it or do you drive it and enjoy it, which is what I\'d want to do, but then the minute you do that, it\'s lost what was special about it and becomes another used car on the road.
That\'s the dilemma, do you use it or not?
I\'d use it and make it go if it was me but then, I\'m more interested in driving cars than polishing them.

I,d drive it,but probably only on sundays, should,nt have to be constantly waiting for the next downpour as in uk,so less cleaning & rust.
That way you\'d still have a minter & a driver.

Yeah, that\'s the thing with OZ, you can just clean the underside with a compressed air line, get the dust off!
If I drove it up the lane outside my house for the winter, with all the mud and salt on the road, the underside would look like the underside of my car within 18 months.
You\'d have to drive it though, wouldn\'t you?

The oz climate is good for cars,30c in brisbane tomorrow, even s1 cars are in pretty good nick, miles better than most of our s3 cars, although their cars do suffer something ours don\'t,cracked dash\'s & opaque faded lenses due to that rarity of ours, the sun!!

Fair play to the guy thats restored it though, every part looks factory fresh. Gorgeous!
I\'d be interested to know how much it cost!
Shame there isn\'t a website so we could see how it progressed and where he sourced the bits from.
I\'ve been trying to track down fixings and parts for the one I\'m restoring and they are like hens teeth.

It\'s a stunner right enough. The underside is breathtaking.

Had the quandry about what to do with a stored car when we bought our Gus. Not turned a wheel from the factory in seven and a half years. The Missus solved it - "it\'s my Daily Drive, don\'t argue" .........and so it came to pass.

Quite right as well!
Would it have given you as much pleasure to know that you had probably the only unused, unregistered car in the UK in the garage as it has driving it for the last 16 years?
No chance!
Also, cars need to be driven. If your car was still unused David, it would need work to put it on the road, if you ever decided to use it.
Rubber parts perish, electrics and interiors get damp, brake lines rust etc, etc.
Then once you change these parts, it\'s no longer the untouched car it once was.
Much better to use it and enjoy it!

Aye Stu,but we possibly all share a dream that we could just about manage to buy it and bring it back from Aus.

No, indeed it wouldn\'t have given us the same pleasure Ian. So the missus was right.
Now imagine that our Gus was still in store, and here we are, approaching the twilight of our lives......if we hadn\'t run it we\'d be trying to get it out of a car cocoon thing and get it back on the road to try and get some earthly pleasure out of it.

So all in all a good decision. We\'ve used it as younger able bodied people (and we still are reasonably able bodied) and that\'s important with a sports car. Larry Hagman once said the trouble with Ferraris is that when you can afford to buy them you bang your testicles on the door sill whilst creaking and groaning to get in and out.

And to think Dibs said on here he\'d walked past our car under its sheet in B&H, Barnet and didn\'t buy because it wasn\'t Red...
