Post by: FD3S Efini on December 18, 2009, 10:44:39 PM
Just need a little advice on what brakes to get for my FD, basically i was on the motorway and one of my rear brakes was binding really bad and wrecked my discs and pads to the point where i didnt feel safe and had to get recovered.

what im asking is what brake discs and pads should i get put onto the rear, they are standard so im after any advice available.

Cheers in advance

Where do you do most of your driving? A track or normal roads?

Hi Kris,

First thing will be to find out what caused the problem,

If it was just one side that jammed om it will be a seized caliper but if both sides jammed on then I would say this is a master cylinder problem

If your sticking with standard Disc\'s and pads on the front I would advise the same for the back as you could end up with too much braking on the back which could cause the car to become unstable in certain braking conditions

As always things come down to budget and if you can afford it and want to upgrade then do both ends for safety

Hope this helps

Ironically I have an FD master cylnder in the garage lol I am uprating brakes front and back on my FC, its a sports car, so needs better brakes :) I would try and solve the braking issue first though!

Just rebuild the calieprs all round - makes a huge difference :)
Really not too hard. Brakeparts.co.uk sell all the parts :)

Then decent pads (I use Ferodo DS2500, great for fast road, and ok for track) and job done :)

If it\'s jsut a road car, don\'t get suckered in by traders trying to sell you massive brake kits at huge expense, the OEM setup with uprated pads, new fluid, and braided lines is perfectly adequate. If you fade that on the road, then you need to moderate your road driving imho ;)
