where is the ecu located?
is it behind the glove box?
how easy is it to get out
does it just unplug
passenger footwell.
peel the carpet back and you\'ll see a metal plate. remove that and ecu is under there.
ld be hold on by 2 or 3 bolts.
just unplugs
ps no signs of getting ecu back soon, so if anyone else can help with that?
ill just buy one second hand seen a couple on ebay just need to make sure the numbers are the same
thanks for the offer anyway and help
If you have ABS there will be 2 there :)
i hope not then lol

huh.. didnt know that. i guess i not got abs :Giggle
Yeah the ABS ECU is to the left of the engine ECU.
Quote from: L18M;660062huh.. didnt know that. i guess i not got abs :Giggle
No you don\'t lol it was an option extra I think as I know Prof doesn\'t have it either, to be fair it just gets in the way of the spark plugs!
im not surprised i not got abs, my fc is the GT-R version, one of the basic ones.
GT* (basic), GTR, GTU GTX (high spec)
or sth like that. cant remember the differances. apart from abs, cruise control?
thought it was to the right of the ECU ?
Does that make my FC top of the range then? Sun roof, cruise control + ABS. If only I had air con I guess I would be King!

Im running Sun roof (UK spec - jap spec don\'t have them) Cruise control - which is AWESOME lol + ABS to break and generally get in the way of the spark plugs lol Aircon is a silly idea on these cars as it just sucks all the power and is just generally really heavy lol
Quote from: m1tch;660254just generally really heavy lol
same for sunroof, cruise control and abs :Giggle
hence i not got any of them not a/c :driving
dam, not even got a fc.. :Giggle

I wouldn\'t mind not having a sunroof, as it stiffens the chassis, so I don\'t call it a sunroof, its an \'active roof spoiler\' for extra downforce equally on all wheels :2Rolleyes
I wouldn\'t worry, I have an electrically folding down roof - that\'s much heavier! And cruise control!
ecu looks ok not damp its an n380 even looked inside nothing black or anythin mine has abs and a sunroof but dunno how to open it cant see any buttons or a handle?
The buttons are up by the map lights in the roof. The sunroofs are well known for sticking and sometimes need a helping hand to get going. Infact mine needs a nudge everytime.

I have these things as well - but they add weight in the right places for cornering stability ;)
And ABS - just complicates the hubs / brake plumbing and is more stuff to go wrong - just learn cadence and progressive braking and it you\'ll never miss it :Giggle

Yeah the buttons are up next to the map lights, just press the back of the sunroof to get it going, then when its open spray the sliders with lithium grease :)
And there is also an emergency handle, check your owners manual pack :) should be the emergency handle in there :)

my ecu which was causing probs for my fc, i opened it up before and everything looked ok to me, no water residue or rust but that was the cause of my prob.
was hard to start car, hot and cold, idle really rough like it was running on one rotor.
i think prof has that ecu now, if not then still with m1tch (n374 i think), not sure if he has had time to investigate it or do anything with it.

I do have that ecu now - not had chance to lift the lid on it and check it out - I suspected it might have either blown output for the ignition circuit, damage to the CAS input (timing pickup) or a failure of one of the several power transistors that control various solenoids and the OMP - even could be an injector driver transistor, although failure of one of those that would cause starting problems would mean it would not be running at all on one rotor.
There is a limited amount of protection built into some inputs/outputs, but some areas of the ecu - such as the OMP circuit, aren\'t well protected - a short in the windings of the stepper motor that controls the OMP will almost certainly take the tranistor pack out that drives it. It\'s a hard part to find a replacement for - made by Toshiba - but not been sold for years - It could be replaced by 4 seperate transistors on a small daughter board - worth putting in some beefy replacements !

Really? I never knew that.

I think the cranking port is up near the map lights under a piece of trim :)

errrr i thought it was somewhere else
have a look half way between the rear of the sunroof and the rear window
should be a plug in the head lining - take that out and i THINK its there

Hmm when I can next get into the car I will have a look lol :D
