Got a complementary Jan Classics Monthly this morning for helping with a quick buy guide for the 1st Gen.:King
A bit of poetic license in it as far as \'he said, she said\' sort of thing but it\'s all there as a buying guide - things to watch for etc.
No pics of our particular car but lovely pics of me and the Missus - me wiv me scruffy jumper on an\' all.
Page 120 for you meanies who read it standing in Tesco or Smiths; a good plug included for the Club.:Talking1
Cool, look forward to reading it, is it out now??

cant wait to see the jumper!
Not a big pic Mark, thank goodness, but I know it\'s my grey jumper with the holes in!
I assume it will be out by Christmas Ian, being the Jan edition - you know what publishers are like.
The covers got a Red Escort RS2000 on it and the caption in big bold \'SPORTING SALOONS\'.
Enjoy y\'all
I take it that you\'ll be busy over christmas doing magazine signings and personal appearances then!
Fame eh!!

You wouldn\'t think it but we\'re both shrinking violets when publicity arrives. :2eek
Must be the RX7 aura which brings on the confidence:wiggle
Very dissapointed, I was doing that really annoying thing of reading the magazines in Smiths and getting in the way of everyone else (just love the ingenious ways people find to tut and sigh lol) and it was the last months issue. :Giggle
the mag came out yesterday and I got a copy today.
Very good article Dave, well done, the best I\'ve read in a monthly classic mag for ages.
Don\'t know about the comment that the 924 is as much fun to drive... no they aren\'t.
In 1989, I did a straight swap, this, my series 3 1st gen
(http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss333/gsxrmovistar1/rx2.jpg)
for this, a 1980 Porsche 924 lux...
At the time they were both valued at £5000 - £5500 and I did a straight swap, which I immediately regretted.
The Porsche was slower, heavier, not as well equipped with a poor driving position,a heavy gearchange thanks to a transaxle and a crap VW van derived engine which was as rough as they come compared to the rotary.
The only good things about it were that the bodywork was galvanised and didn\'t rust and the badge, which impressed the girls more than the Mazda did.
As a drivers car though, there was no comparison.
The 924 was put together from the VW / Audi parts bin and looked and felt as if it had been.
Give me a RX7 instead any day!
Ah, the Porsche comments wern\'t ours. Never driven one so don\'t know. Possibly the different number plates had something to do with pulling? (FUT verses RUB)?
The Senior Writer, Mike Renault conducted a telephone interview with both of us about the RX7 and I\'d sent a few comments in to him of Good Points/Bad Points, plus a few photos.
The next thing the mag\'s printed. Some of the attributes of who said what are a bit crossed over but I was very pleased to see just about all of the points we put forward to watch out for when buying were printed.
The car pics are the mag\'s library pics.
Glad you liked it.
yeah, I sussed that the Porsche comments weren\'t yours!
It was a good, informative piece though and it was apparent that an enthusiast with knowledge of the cars had had some input.
I remember reading one a couple of years back in a monthly that was rubbish, full of inaccuracies.
Nice to see that they used some half decent pictures as well.
Hopefully the feature will help attract new owners to the 1st gens.
Nice one!
Loving the Meastro City in the background too thems were the days....
