Title: what strength engine hoist...
Post by: Archbish on December 06, 2009, 08:06:30 PM
as the subject says, what rating would one need for the removal off an engine and gearbox out of a 3rd gen rx7???  on the bay of E, we see 1/2, 1, 2 tonne hoists - would a 1 tonner do it?

Cheers

If you\'ve got a van or estate car you can borrow my 1 tonner :)

I used a half ton hoist to get the engine out of my FC but it didn\'t want to lift it all the way because of how long the arm had to be extended. Had to give it some extra help in lifting.

If hire price for each is roughly the same it\'s probably best to go one up on what you think it should be :)

You do realise bish the 1/2, 1 and 2 tonne is the same hoist its just how far out the arm extends ..
You may need to get a 2 tonne one on full extension for when the tripplets go in bish :)

Unless I\'m missing something, fully dressed 13bREW with fly is circa 220kg, and the gearbox is what, 75ish?

I\'d have no qualms about using a 1/2 tonne crane. I\'m not sure there are that many cars that would need a 1 tonne crane to get the engine out!
