Post by: G@NDY on December 01, 2009, 05:30:57 PM
Think it must have been 31 months since I last drove my RX7 This was down to some bad judgement and some bad luck ( some would say very bad luck )

However, thanks to Era, Pippy long stocking and Tim Gray Motorsport. I have the car running and back in my garage

I have done 160 of the 1000 run in miles and have a few niggles that need to get sorted. But im loving every minute. Been freezing my bits off today trying to tidy it up (hasnt been polished in nearly 3 years)

Quick Spec list,

Oldone racing half bridge ported series 5 motor with series 4 low comp rotors
port matched 13BRE lower and upper inlet manifolds
Trust T78 33D turbo
Trust wastegate
Custom manifold
Screamer pipe plumbed in
standard primary injectors with 1000cc secondaries (will get uprated when mapped)
Microtech LT10 ecu
Fuel pressure regulator (think its a sard item)
TGM V mount with FD radiator
twin FD oil coolers
PAS and air con removed
OS Giken twin plate clutch
TGM custom water system

Few pics from today:

Nice one mate. Good job keeping your patience with it. Many have started and then given up or lost sight of what they wanted. It looks stunning considering nit hasn\'t been polished for the 3 years. You want to come and not polish mine for a while!

The kit I have is the R Magic front and rear bumpers and the side skirts. Ive fitted the front to make up to see what it looked like, and love it :) will try and get a pic of it today.

The oil coolers are mounted in the same postion as they sit on an FD, where the fog lights used to be. Fitting the oil temp and pressure gauges after crimbo so will report how they are.

Will try and get some more V mount pics also.

Era told me about all the troubles you\'ve been having with your car and it sounded like you were having a hell of a bad time with it. Glad to see you\'ve not given up and its up and running now :D

I also just noticed that your IC setup won\'t be doing anything as there isn\'t anywhere for the air to escape! Im guessing you also have a Vmount bonnet to fit as well?

Yes me olde china fruit :) the mrs is keeping it ticking over while im away.

Mitch the bonnet is the next thing on the to do list, think we are going to modify the stock bonnet some how, abd the oil coolers are twin FD units with custom lines.

Almost lost the car yesterday!!!!
I fitted a boost gauge the day before. Yesterday I rolled it out of the garage to go to a local jap meet, and fired her up. To my disgust my gauge wasnt working (how can i fit a gauge and a tube wrong!!!, lol) I popped the bonnet to try a different nipple and saw some water going down the side of my block, near the manifold. But after smelling it i realised it was fuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turned the car off and it must have dumped half a litre on the floor. I took the UIM off and the secondary rail and injectors out. The injectors were seated right and had all the washers etc. Fitted them back in and primed the pump, after a bit of head scratching I found the cause. The jubilee clip on the fuel pipe that feeds the primary rails wasnt on tight!!!
Im just glad that I noticed it on the drive way and not in a fireball on the road!! :( bad times.

Been fettling again. Had some side panels made up for the V mount, fitted a new ITG filter and tube, cusco brake stopper is fitted.

Got some reflective kevlar sheet stuff to go on my intercooler tubes to keep the heatsoak down. Nearly finished.

Benji that would be triffic. Im a mech not an eletrical wierdo hate wires.

Cant see anything in the cabin that lights up when the lights are on? if I take a power feed from the cigarello lighter then would the gauge light be on all the time?

looking really good. I was up at your place the other day to do a photo shoot with a Typhoon and our Impreza rally car. Never had the time to stop and say hello to anyone as I was suppose to be doing an engine change on a Tornado at Waddington, I may well be coming to your area on promotion so watch this space!!

Still need to sort pics of the catch tank for you.

Fitted my gauges today, it was raining so pics to follow.

Had the car up to temp on my driveway and the oil temp was 78 degrees. I have never had an oil gauge before so im not sure if this is good or not Mitch:o

78 is about right idle, over 120 on track is what you might see
