Title: New Toy questions
Post by: Tomsy on November 29, 2009, 09:45:28 AM
hi, i\'m new to the rex scene so looking for a new toy. was just about to swap my skyline gtr for a really well built single turbo rex but fell through last night. anyway ive driven some pretty powerful rwd cars before but never a rex. ive been looking at single turbos as i want some decent power but need some info as ive been seeing some 350bhp twins advertised (which sounds like quite a lot of power on twins) but i\'m not sure which car it would be best to go for now. i\'m not going to be using the car as my main vehicle so not worried about the drivability that much. just want to know some peoples opinions on single vs twins? prob a much debated topic and dont want to open a can of worms but just some advice would be much appreciated, cheers :)

well ive only ever driven single tub rex\'s. the one ive driven is pretty much dead up to 3000rpm but once it starts to spool, it hits full boost very quickly. This is on a t04r turbo with a street ported motor. that was about 430 fly

from what i understand, most big power twin turbo cars will be running non sequential, so should feel like a single tub. I havnt ever reallly driven one so i don\'t know what its like. Anyway, other than power, a big reason for going single is reliablity. sequential twins can be a pain when something fails.

basically it depends what you want out of the car, what kinda driving are you going to be doing with it?

one idea may also be to get a ride in one

350bhp on twins is not all that uncommon. High powered sequencials aren\'t that uncommon either.

i\'l just be doing the odd day a week and when its not hammering down with rain. might track it but never done a track day before so dunno. i\'l be lucky to do 3000 miles with it in a year as i have another car i use all the time. i want something very fast but not totally undrivable. i had a single supra few cars ago but never got the full potential outta it as it was only running about 400bhp (TO4R) unmapped but the rex i\'m assuming is a totally different car when power is involved.
