Title: upgraded fuel pump
Post by: turbo boy on November 28, 2009, 10:44:05 AM
Hello guys, we are fitting an upgraded fuel pump to my fd, i wanna know if there is any attachments, pipes etc needed or do i simply bolt it to the bracket. I don`t know what make it is, its almost twice the size, can handle up to 350hp and has a built-in filter. Apart from removing the old filter that hangs below the standard pump, do i simply screw it to the bracket or use a jubalee clip to fit it in place? Cheers guys.

As far as I am aware that is all you need to do ;) secuarly fit the new pump in place of the old one & connect all the pipes back up ;)

Was gonna do this last week but it was too cold, today however its quite warm so gonna do it now. I noticed that my new upgraded pump has a slightly longer feed pipe, so it doesn`t fit on the old bracket properly. I was thinking of cutting an inch or so so it will fit, then fitting the rubber pipes. Has anyone on here had to do minor bodging to get the pump to fit properly? It looks self explantiorary, just don`t wanna mess it up.

the last pump I did anything with was just mounted with a stainless Jubilee clip..... so you can slide the motor up & down acordingly so you get the correct pickup height, as for rubber pipes you can joint them or shorten them to suit.

You are fitting a fuel pump that you do not know it\'s make or exact spec of?
Is it from \'someone that told you it makes 1K BHp etc\'....
The Pump is a very important part of your Car, do not take chances with this, only fit something like this that you are certain of it\'s make, specification and condition.

 Good Luck

also take note on the height of it, needs to be at the right depth.

Just been looking through all my posts, it was brought on here in 08 for £70, its a bosch 0580254040, had only done 2k and is good for 340rwhp. I will cut an inch off the feed pipe, then attach the fuel pipes. Cheers for your help guys.

Bosch 040 it is then :P Bottom has a filter rather than a sock like the original? Good pump for those power levels.
