Title: mapping time
Post by: super27 on November 24, 2009, 10:38:27 PM
Hi all I have a mines ecu that im thinking if fitting to my fd I have a decat and the usual hks intake stuff and I know this set up on a standard ecu is not a go idea. does anyone know if the mines ecu\'s are remappable? if not what do I have to do to make the decat setup work. Any ideas?

looking on the mines website, the mines ecu is:
------
The Speed Limiter has been removed, the injection and ignition timing has been reset. For FD3S the boost pressure can be increased.

* From I to III models, the VX-ROM ECU can be produced. (RX-7 FD3S for 265ps cannot.)
------

seems like its just a chip they replace.

best to go standalone as is future proof in case you want to do more mods in future (go single, uprated twins, sequential, port block etc)
can pick up an apexi pfc with commander for under £450

also dont forget jap ecu is tuned for 99 ron (or was it 100ron?)

Mines ecu is not mappable in the uk, to run a decat you should really go with a apexi pfc.

Looks like I may have some probs here, just fitted a 1995 13b into a 92 car not got it up and running yet just thought I would try the mines ecu just to see what happends
Im not sure if the 92 standard ecu will work on the 95 engine if it does will it be ok to plod around in till i sort out an apexi pfc?

92-95 was 8 bit ecu, 96+ is 16 bit ecu.
judging by what mines website said "(RX-7 FD3S for 265ps cannot)" seem the mines ecu is 16bit.
i can hook you up with pfc if you need.

Hi thanks for the info. The mines ecu I have is not listed on there web site it has a part number of 6c i think not got it to hand at the mo. I would be keen on getting my hands on a pfc I see theres a second hand one on ebay from japan £480 seems alot to me but I understand that there not making them any more
If you have one up for grabs let me know. Thanks for your help

Bear in mind that the JDM ECU\'s will be mapped for Japanese fuel - which is more often than not 100RON. I certainly wouldn\'t run a car in the UK on an aftermarket JDM ECU. In fact, I didn\'t, I tiptoed my car back from Newcastle with it on, then ripped it out and fitted a PFC and ran it on the base map.

Apexi still make the pfc for the fd3s the price is high because the exchange rate is so crap but it\'s really a must have if you start modifing.
