Post by: L18M on November 21, 2009, 01:49:48 AM
anyone here using toyo r1r\'s?
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/toyo-proxes-r1r-tire-25540zr17-94w-p-47807.html

they seem good price and i\'ve heard gd things about them from over the sea but not sure how well they would be for uk roads.

on a side note. i\'m sure i posted a thread about tyre life and if they have expiry dates?

its late Zzzz lol

I\'ve used them on one of my GTR\'s and found them pretty good. Tyres have an expiry date which i think is around 10 years from manufacture, i\'ll have a look later on today and try and remember how to work it out.....................my memory is going i\'m afraid!!

The missus has T1R\'s on her 300 and it\'s far more tractable in the wet than the previous tyres allowed.

They have a profile similar to the Eagle F1\'s so disperse a lot of water (not so good if you are behind :chat) from under the tyre and keep a greater porton of the rubber on the road.

I\'ve learned not to cheap out on the rubber - only ever went cheaper tyres once on my vert - it really is worth spending money on a quality tyre - it\'s the only surface that\'s in contact with the road and you want it to stay that way :rollin

no personal experience on these...

but a friend of mine is running them on a streetlegal honda civic 1.6 Turbo 500bhp
he has no real problems with grip on dry roads, wheelspin stops halfway 2nd gear.
in the wet its a bit more of a problem, as you would expect..

i dont think the R1R have been out in uk that long...
that place seems cheap for tyres but not sure how much fitting costs, maybe £5? but still seem good.

anyone tried yoko advan sports tyres?
think choice between one of the above as as using T1R\'s atm.

Didn\'t think the R1R had been released in the UK yet? I know it has in Japan - you can get them from Nengun, but, as you can expect, they work out very expensive because of the shipping.

They\'re supposed to be a good comprmise of 888 and T1R.

how do these R1Rs compare with the toyo T1Rs ?

edit found the answer via google. seems the r1rs were recalled by toyo a the beginning of the year due to a compound failure but may be released properly again soon?

you can\'t really compare the T1R with R1R...

i found the T1R really poor, compared to Falken FK 451
T1R is more of a street tire, R1R is a more streetable semi-slick then the 888.

T1R really poor? I can honestly say I think that\'s the first time I\'ve heard that - I\'ve found them to be brillianbt road tyres. Just fitted a set to my daily, and there\'s a ton of grip, wet and dry - it almost seems like they\'re even better in the wet than the dry!
