Went for test this morning. All lovely except the tester started making tut tuts about steering wheel play. :mad:
I told him the old joke about it\'s a democracy and there\'s always a vote to decide where a 1st Gen car is going.....1 vote for the driver but 1 vote for the car.
Well the tester wasn\'t impressed and went off for his manual, in the meantime I fiddled the wheel (sort of while Rome burned), oh dear, about 30mm total side to side.
The tester comes back "it\'s about on the limit mate.....for a steering rack. A steering box system is 75mm".
Good God, the MOT people who scrutinise the written standards must all have 1940\'s Land Rovers!

That tester would have had a nervous breakdown if he\'d seen the play in my steering.
