hi all, lodger at my house had one of them red letter days today and got to drive the big bull. he said it was quicker than my rex by miles ( mine is only 330whp ish so it really should be!!!) .
what sort of hp would a rex need to give one of these a run for its money. from a 30mph rollin start.
they are quite big cars. i hired a gallardo 18months ago and that wasnt as quick as my TO4S single rex (420flyhp)

You also need to think about the cost of those cars, I mean a murcielago is £££s whereas you can get an FD and mod it to be faster for much much less, plus it also shows up how inefficent the engines are - 6.2L engine producing 93.5bhp/litre, my FC when it was stock produced 153bhp/litre, its now producing closer to 230bhp/litre, plus those engine only rev to 9k rpm hehe slow :D
evo 10 is quicker than a lambo on top gear lol
so baSically once my kkk is on there and proper tune i`ll be on par with the 640!! haha god the rotary is one hell of an engine. cheers
There is a video of a 860+bhp FC on the 2nd gen section :) its still a 1.3 :D

The Lambos torque figures are not very impressive are they? Most 500hp single turbo fds do 400lb/ft + anyway but wouldn`t do 211mph! LOL. A well sorted fc or fd would spank it on the track or twisty b-road. Them premiership footballers better be scared!
Another question to ask is what is the difference in weight ??
Shaun
The Lambo weighs about 1500kg compared to 1250kg fd or 1100kg fc
lambo is 4wd also so will sap some of that power.
theres only 1 way to find out.. hang round some football stadiums and when u see a footballer in one, giv him some abuse then floor it =p
Haha im lookin forward to that:3gears-rh:3gears-rh:3gears-rh:3gears-rh:3gears-rh

Depends on if 5th gear is made longer...or a 6 speed box is put in, but a top speed like that is useless, you aren\'t ever going to go that fast, its better to get tweeked gears for acceleration, top speed is pointless :rollin
I know what you mean, plus it takes forever to get to that sort of speed, like 5-6mile of dead straight road....................pointless. I hate supercars!
I agree top speed, unless you are on a high speed banked oval is just useless. So I\'ll take my 3rd gen anyday. The looks IMO are better and ther are just as rare.
lol if someone offered to swap my FD for a Murcielago I take it hahahaha
Quote from: BlitzBoy;652167lol if someone offered to swap my FD for a Murcielago I take it hahahaha
Then sell it & buy a dozen FD\'s ;) LOL
Jono
hmm sell it buy a Audi R8 and some track FDs with the change lol
its all relative....
Forgetting the price, then the Lambo is bound to be quicker if you go of power to weight (not forgetting the Lambo is 4x4 and has launch control so its consistent)
Now you tune an Fd and get it to 500hp to keep with a Lambo, tube the Lambo and you get some thing like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-dNJAaSi34&feature=related but don\'t forget the Money involved that why when you get a Tuned Fd keeping with a lp670 SV its great.
I say sell the lot and Buy an Ultima GTR and fit a quad :)
different lump but hey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUPXB1Ft4Gs
That wasn\'t as dramatic as it looks, the Lambo let off. BUT!! you don\'t know whats in the fd, that could be 600hp then it wouldn\'t be so bad.
My fav Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omGqX6uUiSE
put in a nut shell.
Lambo Lp 670SV = 1500 Power 670 = 446hp per ton
FD (Light weight ones) = 1260 Power 260 = 206hp per ton
(i gave the stock Fd a bit extra )
so you would need about 560hp to keep with the Current Lambo 670 sv in a line, then you start to get into the "Putting it down" problem where the Lambo will do 3 second 60\'s all day with its Launch control and 4X4.

Bugatti Veyron 8.0 L W16 quad-turbocharged 1001hp 1,888 kg is 530 hp per ton

Maxximus G-Force Ultima Twin turbo 1600hp 1240kg is 1290 hp per ton (and they say that is street drivable :))

Its only 2200bhp...from a 9.3L engine....im sure you can get that from a 20B or a 26B :)
You have to respect it being in the 7n\'s but how many times can you do that before you get board? 100k!!! must be mad. It also doesn\'t say how many miles between rebuilds.
Had the pleasure of speaking to Mr Frost, the guy is a down to earth genius, saw his Victor go up the strip, the thing is awesome!! how many 7 second cars can you see actually driven and used on the public road in the world?
Probably does not need to rebuild it that often at 9.3 litres 2200 its not the limit for that engine
The whole thing here is that it\'s not just about peak power, it\'s alaso the area under the graph.
That\'s one facet anyways. The other is the whole \'package\' - Now don\'t get me wrong, I love my FD, by I certainly wouldn\'t prefer the interior of the FD, for instance, or the build quality, or the reliability of a 550 odd FD.

Don\'t get me wrong anyone that can make a car cross 1/4 of a mile in 7 seconds must know his stuff but i just don\'t see the point of Drag racing in general? once you have got to the point you know your car is not going to get .5 of a second quicker without spending serious money what happens next? doesn\'t it get boring after 10 runs when you can predict the out come of each run?
Plus having the quickest Road car in Brittan is handy at the moment :(
Drag racing is a Sport like any other (proper drag racing is not rwyb where you competing against the clock lol), he competes in a class against other guys, at a FIA drag racing meeting he will compete against other cars capable of doing 7 second runs as well doing rounds then onto eliminations then a final. Its all about first past the post so reaction to the lights is verrrry important.
Never boring in my opinion as the side by side racing is very close, but hey either you luv drag racing or you hate it

Yeh i know what Drag racing is, i have been to a top fuel meet in the US a few years ago. The way i see it is every one has a car that potentaly will pull X seconds on the 1/4 and the skill is to get it off the line quicker than the guy next to you, so after those tenths/hundredths of a second you are there for the ride.
Don\'t get me wrong i think 7 seconds in a Tubed steel bodied car is Amazing and as a privateer it must take real dedication (he must love racing it) but it begs the question why use it on the road if its a top of its game drag car?
Also the skill is to keep the thing in a straight line or to control the tyre shake thoughout the run, you are not simply just there for the ride after launch IMO
The question why he uses it on the road, because he can and you can see the enjoyment it gives him by driving it to the shops or going for a cruise. Instead of waiting to use the car maybe 6-7 times a year at a Drag racing event he has the option of using his pride and joy on the road anytime he likes.
Its all subjective here, one mans heaven is another mans hell.
I luv the feeling I can drive my car on the road and also race the car on the drag strip, its a buzz pure and simple.

go to the awd section and look up the figures for the lambos or anything else. then punch all the stats for a lambo and any power fd you want into the performance calculator and arguements solved.

Erm thats not correct/Current? it says its Lamborghini Murcielago SV was made in 06 where they didn\'t make the SV until 09 the weight is 1819kg and the hp is 650hp which is wrong, the current LP670 4 SV is 1500kg and between 661hp and 670hp (tolerance at the factory dyno) which makes the current SV very quick.. Well it brings the 1/4 down into the 10\'s
so in any case, you have your answer then.

im sure theres not many 260bhp fd\'s around.
playing on that torque cal thingie, a 350bhp fc would do 0-60 sprint in about 4.1 secs
for the money u spend, i dont think a lambo driver would be too pleased it cant loose a 19yr old car costing literally a fraction of the lambo :rollin
WINNER :p
PS i think my exhaust will be louder than lambo also. WINNER x2 :p

Out of interest what does a T2 weigh?
Quote from: Grizzly;652545Out of interest what does a T2 weigh?
im guessing about 1200kg
it doesn\'t matter if a rex (fd / fc) is faster than a lambo or not, to me what makes it amusing / fun is that for a fraction of the cost of a lambo the rex has a similar pace to the lambo and for a car that is 19 yrs old is pretty impressive :)

Ahh a performance calculator does not estimate grip effectively, in the real world on the road a AWD Lambo Murcielago will minch any FD/FC regardless of power off the lights
Ok here is an example of how consistant a modern super car is.. (don\'t forget this is on road tyres)

Gt2 Turbo v\'s a NA Corvette rolling

1430kg 505hp zo6
1500kg 620hp Z01
1442kg 530hp GT2
1500kg 660hp SV
On paper the SV should still be quicker but i\'d imagen not much in it once you take the 4x4 into account.
But the whole point is that the 4wd may be heavier, but it makes up for that with the violent launches. My 360 odd FD would get rinsed off the line by the 33bhp P1 I\'ve been in. Once it\'s off the line it\'d be a different story I suspect, but that start would have quite an impact.
*All this is assuming I\'m not driving. I fI was, then it would be safe to say that the other car would always have a better launch, and be quicker :D
i got a plan, lets all chip in a little n hire a lambo for a day at RS next yr then we can do some experiments down the 1/4 mile :Giggle
we tell them its a new concept mazda in disguise so they will let it run down the strip :evillaugh

haha seen the comments on both vids ?, sooo soo funny reading seeing as most of the guys have not owned either car, people get so emotional over performance figures. I say just buy the car that gets your emotions going which is not always the fastest. Audi R8 for me I just luv the looks.

The Lambo will probably do 11s with an average driver, maybe 10s with a really good driver
Do you think its possible to take time off the "launch controlled" start? with a really good driver or is that a perfect scenario? (obviously baring outside influences)
I\'ve always been interested in getting some thing like a Gt2 and sticking a Noob in it and see how fool proof it is? (short of missing gears etc ;))
you probably wouldnt get that much time off, maybe preload the drivetrain with the handbrake and biting point of the clutch and a bit more revs then 5k launch rpm the GT2 launch control uses, you may shave 0.2 of the start
Just been sent the top gear Evo 8 v\'s Lambo video. LOL not to be picky but thats the 550hp 1800kg lambo which tbh is a good match for a 400hp evo in a line, i can see why they took 300kg\'s out of the car and added 110hp.
