Title: high idle some times hunting ??
Post by: gonzodave on October 26, 2009, 10:19:26 PM
Hi all, just wondered if there were any ideas as to what could be up, i start the car from cold and it revs to about 2.5-3k which i told is normal but then it wont go down again even when warm, also some times i start the car and the revs hunt up and down for a min and then settle, i bit baffled at the mo, i want to sell the car but want it running properly first. So if any body got any ideas or want s to buy it your welcome to send a message,
Thanks in advance Dave.

TPS may be on its way out or require recalibration
( that is what makes the hunt )
these can sometimes give a changing output as the car warms
- and that is usually related to a missing earth or two in the front and or emissions harness

as for the revs stuck up high
it maybe a sticking throttle delay dashpot
it may be a faulty warm up wax cam
it may be sticking secondary delay throttles

Thanks for the reply, the revs have come down a little in the last few days from 2.5k to sometimes as low as 1.5k, when i get a mo at the weekend i will check out all these things and see what i can find, as for the wax capsule is this in the throttle body ? will the whole tb need replacing for that prob if this is what it is ?
Thanks Dave
