hey guys. bit of a problem here. im due to drive over to carl haywards tomorrow night, my satnav is a must but because im driving trough the middle of the night and its near winter i bought an in car heater (160w) because iv no heater matrix, so i had the heater running for about ten mins till it died, so i thought id blown the fuse, checked all fuses on the internal board and there all fine, im still getting no power at my cigarette lighter, which i need for the satnav, i know the fuse for it is 15a, and the heater was only pulling around 13.3A, but it suddenly stopped working,
any ideas????
flat battery?
nah mate everything else is working, it says in the manual that the lighter fuse also protects the stereo ,electric mirrors all of which are working, would there be an in-line fuse??
is there a fuse in the heater plug? have you tried something else in the lighter socket?
if no luck i would rewire the cig socket on its own cable back to the battery on an inline fuse of coarse
Not sure if the Mazda ciggy lighter has it, but on the wife\'s Nissan 300 the lighter socket has a fusible contact - if it overloads it melts out the contact and then goes open circuit.
If you can get it out and check to see if you have voltage on the back of it, you\'ll know.
Failing that, you could get one of the 12v sockets with flying leads from Maplins and rig up something temporary.
sorted it now, thats exactly what it was, theres a small wire connecting earth to the centre cap in the lighter and that was broke, all good now, cheers for the help guys
was just about to say the earth but ahwell
