Title: Absolutely beautiful bodykit!! anyone seen this one?
Post by: FDDreamer on May 03, 2004, 02:25:37 PM
Hey everyone. i was just looking around at some specialist jap tuners etc and came across this site. i\'ve seen most of the kits available for the FD3S, but this one is my favourite!

http://border-racing.com/border-web-catalog/main-catalog/border/parts2/AeroSpecial-fd3s_t5.html

what do you guys think? anyone seen this kit in real life? also, brian, ross or anyone else...any ideas as to (roughly) how much it would cost to import a kit like this? is it even viable?

Border Racing Type V front bumper was the exact one i was after, but Border stuff is very expensive, i was quoted around £800 for the front bumper alone, and with import duty etc your looking at aroun £900-£1000 for a front bumper alone, then you have to spend £300 on the 99 spec turn signals, £1300 for a front bumper is just a waste i told myself, so i didnt get it

really? that IS a lot of money for a front bumper. in a funny way i have even more respect for it! how does that price compare with offerings from re-amemiya etc?

i know veilside products are now available through several uk dealers, but what about the other, more elusive, brands?

yeah totally agree lurrvvllyyyy (http://smilies.jeeptalk.org/otn/love/luxlove.gif) was looking at getting front end for mine in absence of my previous front end!!!!lol but ouch as already mentioned FAR from cheap (http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/contrib/edoom/puppy_dog_eyes.gif) so had to give it a miss myself......

official items like feed will be similarly expensive although copies can be got cheaper from America & such like, veilside are a fair bit cheaper as well & there\'s the new D1 kit i also looked at but couldn\'t afford to wait for it (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/aahmed/sad.gif) so again sadly a no go.......
Many of the kits & a rough guide to how much they cost can be seen on Takakaira as per http://www.takakaira.co.jp/aerokits/aerokitindex.asp?sideon=sidemenu.asp?cat=6 (http://www.takakaira.co.jp/aerokits/aerokitindex.asp?sideon=sidemenu.asp?cat=6)
Now mazdaspeed there\'s an expensive one (http://smilies.jeeptalk.org/contrib/blackeye/Eyecrazy.gif)

WOW! cheers for that link, what a great site! always loved the GT-C mazdaspeed kit, particularly the front end and that lovely lil bracket (?) that the exhaust sits in/on! also the INGS kit is beautiful, and about the same cost as the C-West one! but the prices...

i was thinking, would it be an interesting idea to do a thread on kits etc everyone has? just wondering what\'s popular and what kind of modifications people have made. sure there\'s probably already a thread like this, and i don\'t wanna annoy people by repeating someone else\'s idea...but if not it\'d be great if people could post what they have and maybe some pics?;)

Hiya mate, as regards bodykits be very careful when importing them from Japan, America etc. You need too keep an eye on  freight, import duties and vat. Got mine from Takakaira and had to stump up over £500 in duties etc, my neighbour has just came up against the same problem he had too cough up £645. Try //www.nemesisperformance.com  or Alan Tang at //www.pow-r.co.uk he has RX7 kits, the price you see is the price you pay I think. You could also try Ross at Dragon he sometimes has bodykits. Good luck with the hunting best regards Leigh.

Here is the demo car they did.
It was for sale a while back.

I have seen the kit, I think I\'ve seen every kit.
Border stuff is very good. Good Fit.
But yes, very expensive.

I want a Border Twin turbo kit.... mmmmm yummy

Russ.

hi leigh...ok, cheers for the heads-up! never imagined that all the duties etc would add up to a figure like that! i guess it must be great to start out with a stock model and completely personalise it, but it seems from a value for money point it might be better to buy an already-kitted example!

by the way, don\'t suppose you can remember the price it went for? was it on sale in japan?

funnily enough nemesis are based 5 mins from where i used to live, but the irony is i had to move 500 miles or so until i was in a position to consider buying! still, means that i\'ve got another EXCELLENT reason for going back to see the guys down south! ;)

i am still drooling at the wide-body border car...never seen anything like it! 600k yen is about £3000, right? if i hadn\'t been previously informed about import duties etc i\'d think it was kind of a bargain considering the price of the front bumper alone!

i was having a snoop around on taka kaira earlier, think i\'ve found an even nicer kit! really!

it\'s not nearly as dramatic or aggresive, but i think it\'s gorgeous. it\'s by Ings...what do you guys think? it\'s not SO expensive either!
:p

anyone know anything about Ings? never heard of them, are they a tuner for mazda in particular? any other kits for FD3S?

gotta say the border kit is sweet as.

Anyone know how much it would cost for a Veilside CII nose and rear?  would need to get it fitted - am of a challenged capability when it comes to these things.  I\'m thinking the weilside would look sweet with my black FD with racing beat side skirts, but I have speedbumps to get over at the office and the FD is the daily driver too so I can\'t lower the car.

Anyone better than me with photoshop that could do a mock-up?

DAn I thought youd like this image if you like advan.

Car make T&E Vertex demo car.

They are also now making a widebody of similar design

Yea...:cool , that looks totally class.

I never used to like the advans, but when they are plosihed up/chromed, they look really really good.

Love the rear wing on that demo car aswell.

Not so common, even in japan.
