Title: remap needed?
Post by: franky on October 21, 2009, 03:40:35 PM
hey guys im thinking of geting my rex remapped but i dont know anything about it. The cars running rich this is the main reason i was thinking it needs a map i stuggle to get it through mots, but its also only running 240 bhp which as far as i know is under powered, i got a 93 fd3 standard engine and its only boosting up to 0.8 this normal? would a remap help?

I think standard fds push out 0.8bar anyway (12psi...ish). Book it in for a dyno tune mate and they will be able to diagnose any problems with it. 240bhp is alright for a standard rex.

Is the car Jap or UK?  Reason I ask is that UK cars were 237bhp standard, so you may be right on the money anyway.

Standard boost on a pre 99 rx7 is 0.68bar and 0.74 for the 99-02 models.

You need to spend £500 on a powerFC ecu and give a rotary specific tuner another £300 to map it for you otherwise you will, at best just keep chasing your tail or at worst give it to the wrong person to tune on a dyno and get it blown up.

For your money spent you will get approx another 30-50hp and the knowledge it has been done right.

My 2p anyway
