Title: New exhaust fitted... is my bumper going to melt?
Post by: Jim_rx7 on October 18, 2009, 09:52:18 PM
Fitted the engine to the car today along with the new exhaust...

It\'s gonna look awesome once the bung is removed and the diffuser is back on.

My questions is... is my bumper going to get toasted?? :(

Might be an idea to get 1 of those CF bumper protectors, the single skin ones like that won\'t dissapate the heat as a 2 skin sort, although saying that, my twin system is like that and hasn\'t melted anything. I guess it depends on what your a/f ratio is, which will either cause HUGE flames, or run higher exhaust temps.

Looks very similar to mine... Is it an XS Power one? Mine flames lots on high rev gearchanges however no damage to bumper to date (probably as high rev gear changes mean the flame doesnt touch the bumper due to travelling at speed heh)

Might be better getting a stainless one on there!! The reason I say this is because if the CF one isn\'t constructed with flame retardant resin it could spell desaster for the car!!

Yeah, I think it\'s a rebranded XS Power one. Sounds awesome and stupidly loud! HKS DP, straight through mid pip and the rear section.

Not too fussed about it cooking the bumper as it\'s simply an excuse to buy a new one! :)

gives you an idea of what mine kicks out on gearchange, yet to have any visible damage to the bumper, most i\'ve had is wiping some soot off it :)
