Title: veilside rx7 fortune
Post by: stu0056 on October 11, 2009, 11:46:47 AM
Hi,

I am lookin to fit a veilside fortune kit to a RX7. Has anyone here had one fitted as I would prefer to put it to a body shop that has already fitted one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Stuart

I got quoted a resonable price from a bodyshop to fit one and have the car resprayed. But have since decided to let them do a custom widearch kit for me, gotta fit the kit around these wheels tho:

yeh the kit alone for a genuine veilside fortune is like 14k ish... the idea of a fortune kit is the fortune replaces every pannel except the roof...

i think replikit in the UK were making a copy of it...

Yeah, he did and it is! Didn\'t know the owner was going to sell up though, cost him about three times the asking price in the end, as well as the base car! Awesome work, though not to my taste. The amount of work J put into just the clocks alone was just ridiculous. The wheels and tyres are probably four grands worth on their own

I\'ve found someone who is selling the real veilside kit for £7,600. It\'s more the fitting costs that i\'m wanting to find out about and also finding a body shop that will do a really good job.

IIRC, the last guy on here that got it done - his username was "jamie fortune" something-or-other, quoted around £5k or so for fitting. As was said - it replaces almost every panel, so takes a HUGE amount of time to do right, add to that the prep time, time to make sure all fits properly, etc etc. Then you will need a fair bit of paint, plus time for painting etc and you are easily looking at that £5k plus I reckon.....

That kit isn\'t to everyones taste (i\'m personally not a fan) but each to their own, but i\'d think seriously about buying one already fitted - it\'s a sh!tload of money for what is essentially one mod!! But by all means go nuts if you have you\'re heart set on it!!

By doing it myself i\'d be able to make it to my own spec, i\'m also pretty tied down with what i can do engine wise, I\'ve got a DD10 on my licence so I cant really do much to the performance. I cant add any more than 30% to the power and even then im paying over 3 grand a year.

I was just about to buy an exige and then last minute changed my mind for the mazda. I\'ve already had a RX8 which i did up with all the mazdaspeed bits and pieces. It\'ll be good to have another rotary!!!

Hmm, it might just be my generally suspicious nature, but in my experience if something sounds too good too be true it usually is. Even in this economic climate he\'s losing what... £10k on that kit?

I\'d double check it\'s stamped up to high heaven for Veilside markings before even thinking about going down that route.

Although, it may just be the deal of the century tbh!!! :d

Dude if you\'ve got the money for the kit, the fitting, the paint and the wheels to fill those huge arches.. and it what you want, then go for it. There\'s only a few in the country now and so you\'ve very very unlikly to pass another in the street :D
Just be aware you will get a lot of attention from it, good and bad. Plus will you be able to take it out and leave it somewhere with out you blood pressure going through the roof from worry.
Just promise if you do do it then you\'ll try a different colour scheme than the orange and black. Been done to death now. Either try 2 differnt colours or just one to be totally different

Yeah my mates R8 just got keyed the other week and my mates dad had a ferrari F430 that people used to spit at or shout at him on the way past. I guess some people are just jealouse.

With regards to the colours i really cant make up my mind. I think im going to keep the black but not sure what second colour to go with. So far i\'ve considered acid green, white (i really like this but there is a few already like it) Chrome, or this red.......

The candy red might be nice. If you search through the fourm there was another guy thinking of doing this kit as well and he photoshopped a load of different colours to get ideas of what looks good

I\'ve had a look on google images and there are a few nice ones, also shows how popular the orange and black is. This is the green one that i like. http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/attachments/cars-for-sale/247105-rx-7-fd3s-for-sale-dscf9238a.jpg

I might buy myself photoshop and have a play about with it.

Do you think black and chrome would be too over the top?
Title: veilside rx7 fortune
Post by: Nik da Greek on October 14, 2009, 01:41:35 PM
can you be too over the top on a car like that!? :3Confused What about being radical and just painting it a single colour, a really nice pearl of some sort. Don\'t remember seeing a monochrome one before. After all, Lamborghini and other supercar makers and so on don\'t see the need to make patterns with their paint, they let the shape of the car do the work.

there\'s a video of an all white one on youtube and i\'ve seen a dark red one too. I think the two tone shows off the shape of the car better. have a llok for the all white one and you\'ll see what i mean. I agree that if I did go for all one colour a pearl would be really nice, like the paint used on the green focus RS

the red and black.. cant go wrong :p
but can look dated as its an OLD colour scheme. what about black and baby blue, black and yellow? white and baby blue?
