Title: anyone had their hatch struts re-gassed?
Post by: Ian65 on October 02, 2009, 08:41:43 PM
I\'m thinking of either replacing my hatchback struts or getting them regassed. If it comes down and hits me on the head again, I\'m gonna go berzerk!
I don\'t want to replace them with anything other than original parts and don\'t want to pay main dealer prices either ( assuming that they are still available)
I thought about going to this place as they re-gas while you wait.

Has anyone had this done or got any thoughts on it???

I\'ve been whacked on my head many times.
Mazda dont sell these anymore,i\'ve checked.
Ur options are regas or 2nd hand ones that still work, mark with the yellow rx7 got his regassed & said they work well, but when i enquired at a different company they would\'nt do as they did\'nt know what pressure to fill the struts with.
The company you have listed i was going to get in contact with, but i\'ve sourced some 2nd hand ones that i\'m told work!
Ta stu..

Dickens in the US supplied me with new struts very quickly from ebay in around 2007. Shaunwil gave me the tip.
1 strut does the trick on its own. Coming from America they are not Mazda parts but fit perfectly. However they have to be \'flipped\' 180 degrees to fit. Consequently the offside ( the wiper contact side) is a problem. But honestly 1 only on the nearside does the job perfectly as Shaun told me . It\'s a 5 minute fit but you have to be bold and hacksaw the C Pillar ball joint off to get a socket on it. An open ender isn\'t good enough.
I haven\'t seen Dickens Advertising recently, I\'ll have a looksee when I\'ve more time. But honestly 1 strut flipped 180 degrees has worked for me for more than a couple of years.

They aren\'t that far from me either (about 50 miles). I might have been better going there. But my old struts were bolted so tight on the ball joints to the \'C\' pillar I thought at first they were welded on! When I cut through them and got a socket onto the cut-off ball  the stub ends finally unscrewed, so for regassing I suppose you really have to make sure you can unbolt them first?

Didn\'t even realise you could actually re gas them. I ended up just swapping one because of the electrical pickup for the rear wiper. After over 12 months its still good and I use the boot a lot !
