What\'s it doing?
The ABS computer is next to the ecu and can be unplugged if it\'s causing problems :wave

Hi,
as soon as you start the car up and drive it the abs controll unit sounds like its trying to pressurise something?
As soon as you put your foot on the brake there\'s a strange grinding/mechanical noise which is hard to describe and its gives a very strange pedal feel.

Allthough the abs light comes on from time to time giving me non assited brakes that seem to operate fine.Eventually id like the abs removed permenatly but for now il just unplug it from the control unit??:D

hummmm thats a new one on me !

the ABS unit is only about 4 yrs old in that car ( at a cost of about 1600 aswell )

when you first drive the car , after about 5 seconds it should do a self test and thats the noise you are hearing

the other bit .. errrr no idea

but as brett said - get under the passenger foot rest and the abs ecu is there - 10 min swap out - i have been thru about 4 of them in the cab !

but yes you can remove it - i think you just need to get some bridging lines made up ( have a search - its been discussed a few times in the past )

With the ABS, you will have to remove the WHOLE system including all the sensors and wiring etc to be able to pass the MOT next time round, it has to either work 100% or you don\'t have it in the car lol

just over nite really,im gona check all the plugs to the hubs then all the connections when i can get round to it.
It seems that if u start the car and stay off the brakes for a couple of minutes the abs system sounds like its pressurising then the abs light comes on.
Would that be an mot fail then if the abs light is on?

yeah i think it is to be honest - could be a faulty sensor ( ouch not easy to swap out )

i would assume its showing a fault somewhere on the system - its now just finding it

I had this issue with the ABS before, when you start the car and start to drive should should hear a \'hiss\' which is the ABS pump pressurising, it might just be 1 of the wheel sensors that has got caked up with brake dust, mine broke, but it fixed itself hehe

Every now and then I get the skidy car symbol lighting up on mine. Normally after some rather heavy braking. It clears itself normally with in a minute though. think I may need to give the sensors a clean.
