Hi,
In first gear, you would not normally get a reading from the std guage. You need to get an aftermarket one, and even on these in 1st gear it would only show maybe 2or 3 psi. Reason for this is the low load in 1st gear. On a std car, with no induction or exhaust, halfway on the guage sounds about right.

I have seen a simalar problem on a T2 but it was more like no boost in first and built up throught the gears with more load, it turned out to be the Clip that holds the Actuator arm on the wate gate.

I\'ve also seen another problem where the engine is starting to run a bit lean and when abused the extra heat causes expantion/contraction crackes around the wastgate causing poor boost responce and peak boost drop, this is somthing you may see more in lower gears and is very common.

I would\'nt worrie as long as you are seening good boost in the other gears.

In higher gears, boost ought to start to drop again at about 5500, roughly.
