Title: Cold Air Vents help please
Post by: CharlieP on September 27, 2009, 09:39:21 AM
Hi all-
Has anyone else noticed that the middle vents, coming from the dash never really get hot?? The low exit vents deliver nice hot air, and the screen vents do too, but the ones coming straight out of the front are rubbish......Do you think it\'s worth insulating them while my dash is out?

Yeah ive noticed this too, so just leave them on screen and feet to heat the inside.
Dont think insulation will do anything.

My "heater" only seems to work by conduction from the engine through the trans tunnel and firewall lol. The blower is like trying to warm the entire ground floor of your house using the computer fan, about as much use as tits on the Pope

I\'ve been told that you only get warm air out of the footwell vent....and it\'s rather slow to start on mine.
Rather surprising on a car that rejects so much engine heat !!

I get no hot, cold or even any blow from mine... although I have pulled it all out lol!

May be worth having a look at the connecting heater hose under the dash to make sure there are no broken connections?

I may be wrong (usually am) but I suspect its designed to put less heat through the face vents than elsewhere as most people like toasty feet and cool noses! Going back 10 years (or more) car reviews would often bemoan the fact that you couldn\'t achieve a warm feet / cold nose balance, but Mazda always seemed to be noted for designing their cars to operate like that. My un-modified 1999 is the same - some warmth from the face vents but most going to feet or the screen.
