hey there,,
rite guys my rx7 did somethin really strange the other day.. i put my foot down on second gear up to 7k and the it was running on one rotor i think, next day i did the copression test with the mazda digital tester, and the frond rotor showed, 265 rpm . 07.5, 07.6, 07.8 and rear 85 RPM 0.00 0.00 0.00 ( HOW THATS POSIBLE?) any ideas wat mite be? i hope is not the engine.. thanks,,

hey mate thanks for the reply,
no smoke no water leak, still starts,but sound really diffrend, i m not 100 % but i think its running on 1 rotor, but i cant be sure cuz i never seen another one how is sound wen is on 1 rotor so i cant realy say.

Does it sound like a tractor on idle? with those compression ratings it looks like you have blown a rotor

yes mate is sound like a tractor,, but how is possible the frond reads 265 rpm and the rear 85? does the rpm change by compression?

Rpm will be the same, if you got no compression on all three it sounds to me like more than 1 tip has gone, side seal etc, i,e blown engine, sorry dude

Thinking about it I have never used a compression tester so don`t know the characteristics wether it would allow an engine to spin faster with no compression or not

No worries mate i will build new one with ports :) gd thing i can do the rebuild my self :) btw i only had it mapped on wed from pip and sunday blown up!

I m still on twins but i vgot frond mount inte, apexi filters. I had the atkins seals in the engine , pfc it was canny stantard,but now i will do much more and i hope it last lang

Yes 3000 miles ago and wen pip checked me compression on wed was really good, So i was suprised that it blown up and i had it on the low setting i never had the channce to try my fast setting

Perhaps check if its under warentee, what fuel were you running? did you have a decat?

Yes i forgot to mention that downpipe and de cat pipe aswell emm bout fuel i dont know to be honest i aint got fuel pump. U think i run lean?

Well you did have a standard PFC and a decat, which is a no no regarding FDs, was the pfc remapped?

I had all the toys istalled to my car and i was drivin it at 4k only, and then intook it to pip and he istalled the apexi pfc with the map and then i put my foot down. And it lasted for 4 days! And then blowed.y thinkis the map fault?

Hmm thats most odd if its been fully mapped, did you have a wideband O2 sensor onboard to check how lean it was going? Ive just installed mine before I increase the boost lol

reply for mitch: i dont know mate if i had the o2 sensor wgt mapped me car so i guess he will had one.. i dont know wat to say! its very strange

I have this problem with mine at the moment... but when i give it gas it doesn\'t die it allows me to rev it and keep the engine alive... if no throttle then it will die...
The story:
Went on a spirited drive for about 2hrs with no problems - plenty on lead foot... came back to my area and was driving fine, driving around slowly to cool down with no issues. Got back onto my road and all ok (water & oil temps, Oil pressure OK on guages and PFC Commander) stopped past my drive and as reversing in my revs started bouncing to about 4k and back to 1k. Switched car off on driveway. 2 mins later thought it\'s gonna rain so put the car in the garage, started fine and rev\'s were OK this time when reversing into the garage. Switched car off again. Went to start it the next day and getting the symptoms of the above video. Could it be flooded as only moved a small distance from driveway to garage or something more serious?
Any suggestions on what this could be?

hi m8 that my video of my rx7 yes ifits like that its a rebuilt yes my rx7 allows me rev but i had to pump the to throttle

How was the car running before you had that issue? or did it just come out of nowhere one morning?

it happen all of a sudden i was comeing back from jm imports must dun about 3 miles i was driven the rx7 about 30mph in spray road when there was a pop from the exhaust rev dial drop down lost power but engine was stull running i give it a rev and there was no rev respomce i had to pump the throttle to get a rev respomce i lost compression on my rear rotary
have you dun a compression test

Compression test will be done tomorrow - I\'m hoping it\'s not the engine as the car was running perfectly before, (holding boost to redline, all temps etc OK too) other than the bouncing rev issue when back on my drive, but that was not present when starting the car for the last time when putting it back in the garage, even then it sounded as normal. HHhmmmm.
