what sort of suspension axle set up is on the early rx7s or what way was the works rally cars done i.e. links tramp bars With escorts and the like getting so scarce wondered if the Mazda route would be a option? any pis would also be useful cheers
The 1st Gen rear suspension is a live axle (banjo casing with half shafts), held in fore/aft position by 4 trailing arms (1 upper and 1 longer lower one on each side). A Watts Linkage is also fitted transversely via a pivot point just to the side of the axle (O/Side).
Usual springs and shocks complete the rear. Might be a rear A Roll bar as well.
The front is MacPherson with an anti roll bar and tension rods from plates on the front chassis rails holding the bottom suspension arm.
If you need a diagram happy to oblige but got to get the old scannerola out of the cupboard.

Hmmm....new fangled gizmos! Don\'t hold with \'em. Nothing good will come of it, I\'m telling you.....Best rely on the old Epson....If it were good enough for my great grandpa\'.....
cheers every one is their a steering rack or other?
Other, recirculating ball.
Yeh quite heavy on the steering at low speeds with no power assist. My wife\'s quite a small woman but after a dozen years with the 1st gen steering box on her daily drive, I didn\'t fancy trying to arm wrestle her.:burnout
You can buy alot of upgrades for them too including better springs and dampers. Also Racing beat do uprated anti-roll bars front and rear !
I have one as a daily for 3yrs and you get used to the steering weight.
Shaun
plenty you can do to them check out the thread in my sig
