I\'ve been digging through the forums and various sites online about EGI specs, but haven\'t been able to find much as it\'s mostly turbos that come up. Either it\'s because there isn\'t that much interest or i\'m not looking hard enough :Hammer
Just wanted to know more detailed specs on the EGI, like were they fitted with LSDs, 4 wheel steering? etc. Just a couple of rumours i\'ve come across.
Any help would be grand :D
Many thanks
Mike
they wern;t fitted with lsd\'s. Though you can fit an mx5 lsd into the egi diff casing.
And yes they also had rear steer.
You looking to eliminate the rear steer?

yes, whats involved?
lots and lots of swearing usually !
have a search for DTSS and you will find a thread started by me that tells you how to do it
and as if by magic : http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26650&highlight=dtss
I think someone was selling some dtss elimiator bushes aaaages ago lol
I have some - are they the same for EGI and T2 - if so I have some - could be persuaded to sell them on ;)
reheheeaallly... :)
How much would you want for them?
Thanks
I\'ll have a think - they are still in the packet with instructions :)
So £5 then ;)
ha ha ha ha another cheapskate in the making ;)

Thanks man, thought I might "fit in" here :D
if you are as cheap as me - then you will fit in no probs - just dont complain about the flak that you will recieve
look at my sig - most of that was carried out by Brett :( !! LOL
Gotta say the car cover for under £1 was quite an amusing read :D.
I place a big emphasis on worth (perspective) when buying / doing things for my car ;). Remember, its not a bodge, its a cost effective solution!
the £1 car cover - best thing ever - still on my 2nd one - so its cost me a whopping £2 ish soo far :D :D
i dont mind buying stuff for the car if i need it ( discs pads etc.. ) - but for random stuff i dont need - i try and be cheap !
Do you have a big vice?
If don\'t chances are you\'ll need to go to a garage to get them in and out.
Or you could bring them round to me and ill do them for beer tokens. I ended up paying nearly £50 to get them out. Thought it would be £20 max... Rotechniks then decided they would want £70 to put the new ones in.... this is with the hubs and bushes off the car and given to them.
It took meand a mate about 10 mins to whack the new ones in with a big vice and a few sockets.

though if you\'re unfortunate you may need more tools to get the hubs off, like so :P
(http://i973.photobucket.com/albums/ae213/dtheb_uk/IMG_0266.jpg?t=1253724462)
check the goggles :P
no sh*t, you cut your drive shafts in half to get the hub off?!?
I have access to a 7 1/2 ton press so no issue there, genuinly thanks for the offer though. Much nicer bunch on here than some other forums :), I imagine I\'ll be asking for help n\' advice loads as I go.
took me a while to get the old ones out - but the new ones pressed in by hand with a bit of fairy liquid ;)
yea the hub was litrally stuck to it where as the other side pretty much fell off.
But yea its not to tricky. Just the top part of the hub the takes a bit of persuasion to get off. Other than that theyre fine. Easy to get back on too
Loving the goggles :D

not only are you 50% tighter than a ducks ass, but you also have super human strength!!! you\'re my new hero!!!
Quote from: j3d1;643508So £5 then ;)
Yeh - I\'m guessing that will cover the postage ;)
Seriously though - I\'ve never used them, was going to, but I like the way the car flicks into corners and rides the invisible rails on the loud pedal - so I won\'t fit them. I think £30 all in (postage included to anywhere in the UK). :Giggle

And you wheren\'t on your own for the 1st one :Giggle
Shaun
he he he hiya matey - so you where there to witness the insertion of the DTSS - we did it sat on the patio
OK getting them out took 3 of us - but in was easy ;)
we had one of us sat on the bench to hold it down and 2 of us with a 3 foot pole on the vice to force the bush out ;)
Another quality 2nd gen thread :D
Bear in mind its not true rear wheel steering, its passive toe in/out depending on the corner loading :Giggle Great when new, causes interesting handling and pulling under breaking when the bushes get old and worn :)
And Grinder.....well, he squeaks when he walks.... :rollin
so quick question... If say, you had access to a machine shop and materials and could machine totally solid metal bushes, is there any reason why these wouldn\'t work?
(I havent looked closely at these OE bushes btw, just checking possibilities)
If theres a spare set going on DTSS eliminator bushes I will deffo take them.
Ash
I would think you could make them easy enough. If you\'ve got a lathe you could knock one out in half an hour or so. Im not sure why they are made of nylon (or what ever it is) I would think ally would be the best option if you had some.
This thread has become a bit huge since I last managed to get one here!!

Bit of a pain that an MX5 had an lsd and not an FC lol
Is it an easy thing to fit? Might be a mod I consider and take the chance to refurb the rear subframe at the same time.
Wasnt going to eliminate the rear steer, was just curious is all. Would explain a few things with the steering though :rollin
As i understand it, it fits into the egi diff casing. FC diffs arn\'t particularly hard to get out, you just need to take a few other bits out. like the rear sub frame. The guy that welded mine just undid the subframe and didn\'t fully take it out, but he had it on a huge ramp and it was still a pain. Whilst you\'re there i\'d suggest cleaning u the subframe. If anything it will look nice and impress anyone wanting to buy the car (if you sell it).
Only problem is finding a decent mx5 diff for decent monies, i think you\'ll have to buy a few other parts just to get hold of the diff, unless you\'re lucky.
Edit: oh i missed the part you wrote about the subframe, great minds!!
Ah right, well rear steer should be quite hard to feel, as in you should be pushing it quite a bit to notice it. If it does it on pretty much every corner, like my current car, i find it just makes everything too unstable so should be changed. Saying that, i havnt giving the car a good thrashing with the rear steer eliminated yet, i\'ll let you know how it goes!
Hi everyone :D
I find THIS (http://www.autoscout24.it/Details.aspx?id=165001224) apparently good car... On the "\'7 Bible" book of Brian Long, I\'ve read that the FC for Europe are about the GXL for USA, so it must had the LSD like in USA... Or not? You\'re sure?
Thanks!

Not quite sure what you\'re saying but either way that is very expensive for an EGI FC!!! You could get a lot more car for your money with £5k than what looks like a standard EGI
