Hi All, does anyone have any stats on how many R100 coupes are still active in this country?
I know not many were originally imported in the first place.
Any info on where I could find one for sale or someone willing to be tempted to sell would be much appreciated.
Paul
better off trying the forum that no ones allowed to mention on here

still silly and childish to have E X I L E in the swear filter though, I think we are all Adults and don\'t think we need shielding from a word, or in the words of Cartman "maybe it might corrupt our fragile little minds" :rollin
3 R100\'s were officially sold in UK.
All probably gone now.
I did see for sale a Familia quite a few years back which was the 4 door saloon model that was sold in Japan only domestic market.
One or two in europe such as switzerland.
Regards
Carl
What was the piston engine version called if there was one?
Mazda 1000

Hello Paul and welcome to Mazdarotaryclub which as the name suggests was founded for all Mazda Rotarys from old to new :cheers
Carl has already answered with most of the info I know, also as far as I know this was only from one dealership in Wales so not sure these were ever classed as "official" out in the world these were called Familia R100\'s and were made from 1968-1973
Just yesterday some nice pictures went up from an overseas member of ours with R100\'s on the thread,
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59960
Also it may be worth contacting Multirotor on this thread if your real serious as this car may not have sold,
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48683&highlight=r100
As a Club thats now been around for 8 years you should find the search button on the top bar your friend for most things Rotary including the R100
Hope this helps

Carl,
I have personally seen 2 R100s (imported from USA) in a certain shed in Belgium. There is also another one 5 minutes walk from my current location in Germany. Originally purchased by VW in 1969. They are around and are available.
A bit more than one or 2 matey.

i am aware of what went on, been on here alot longer than this username ;)
i was trying to help the guy out but the questions been answered now.
i understand it caused grief to some but surely putting the site name in a swear filter comes across very childish and silly, they have helped me out a great deal with knowledge about our rx4 on where to get parts etc and i feel they could share more info on the topic stated

Yup, ask Multirotor whats available. He will know.
Quote from: BlitzBoy;641892What was the piston engine version called if there was one?
r100 is in fact the rotary COUPE version of the STA ( 1200 coupe )
later models are based on the STB ( 1300 coupe )
there is detail differences in the front panels and headlights and rear taillights
between the three
- also STA to STB there is differences in the front end swaybar types
the STA being more datsun like with a floating swaybar
the STB uses the dual purpose swaybar/ control arm locator
and this STB arrangement follows through to rx2 and similar in 808
( ie a banana shaped cross member with control arms fixed rearward off a pin )
also,, r100 sold in aussie has 14 inch wheels and unique stud pattern different to the STA/STB
( in other markets i believe the r100 share the same pattern to STA/STB )
Thanks for the info :wave
Sounds like you will almost certainly have to import one into the UK. Thank-fully around 95,800 R100\'s were produced. So they are still relatively easy to find and come up for sale regularly, especially in NZ,Australia and Japan. I personally have owned 2 R100\'s(M10A) as well as a 1200(STA) coupe and a 1300(STB) coupe. Expect to pay around 6,000 and 9,000 United Kingdom Pounds for a good example. JDM R100\'s are badged as familia. I know ALL the differences between M10A/STA/STB so I can help you avoid buying a replica M10A.

R100\'s were mass produced.
For a real investment I\'d go for the "real myth" The Mazda R130.
Bertone designed and extremely rare, only 967 produced. Perhaps only 20 still surviving worldwide. Only one known in Europe/UK. I have only seen one come up for sale every few years. This one is currently for sale at a bargain price. 8,035.733 GBP

Is not that rare to meet a R130 for sale and their prices are quite low, comparing to 110s, probably close to a descent R100.There is one currently for sale at yahoo.auctions.jp (search under RX87). Some months before there was one for sale by j-spec.improts.au (or something).
In Europe most R100s were sold in Switzerland, followed by Belgium and France. For sure multirotor will know if there is anything availiable. US and to a lesser extend Canada are the best places for a car to import besides AU, NZ and Japan (sorry, I forgot the RHD case).
In Greece about 20 were imported, plus one sedan (Familia Rotary SS). Although I saw this car in flesh, something like 33-35 years ago, I cant remember if it was a LHD or a RHD car. I dont know any exports for the sedan model.
Quote from: baltsiotis;642922Is not that rare to meet a R130 for sale and their prices are quite low,
How many R130\'s have you seen for sale?
Please tell me what the actual sale price\'s have been?

I\'ll ask you again

I am not a native english speaker, but I dont quite understand your expression. Is this a kind of order?
Anyway, I dont count them, but the last three-four years more than 3 different R130s appeared at j-spec.improts, priced between 20 to 30 thousand Au dollars. The one for sale in Japan right now reaches 1 million yen. If you search at "ausrotary" you will find plenty of information related with cars previously for sale.
Sorry I\'ll try and make myself clearer.
Do you know what price was paid?
Actual Sale price = price paid to seller.
Sale price=money asked for by seller.
No I dont. Guys from Australia and New Zealand might br more helpful to you.
I have to underline though that a fully restored Cosmo (110s), and in particular a very rare L10A car, is actually on yahoo.auctios.jp with a starting bid of 16 thousand euros and -I guess- a "buy it now" price of around 20 thousand. Cosmos are far more expensive than R130s.

I\'m not aware of the history here, could someone fill me in? -metaphorically that is-private message if necessary, just curious thats all and don\'t wish to hijack this thread, thanks, Bob.
I know this thread is old now but I just wanted to say we had an R100, NTW789J I think. It was my Dad\'s car. Kind of red/maroon colour, sorry i don\'t know the actual colour name. Sold it about 15 years ago but I think a chap in Essex is currently restoring it. You never know, the myth might become a reality... :)

Yes along with his Gen 1 and RX-3 he still has it but is short of a bonnet, apparently these were narrower than the piston equivalents :3Confused
It had a bonnet when it left my place! Maybe taken by the rust monster...
Nowadays there are still 4 R100\'s registered in Holland, 2 of them are still running, the other 2 do have engine problems, which 1 of them has been fixed
by me, Clive has seen this one at Rotarystock 2011 in Holland.
Regards,
Kees
Just building the engine....
Rest of the R100 finished
Then make exhaust and get MOT
She will be about this year!
Here in Finland there is few nice Mazda 1300 for sale, which can be made to r100 clones. Unfortunatly, its not possible because are laws. And that is a shame.
I know that one gent here raced r100 back in 70´s with car he imported from Canada. It had 13b PP. I´ll try to find some pics if I can. :)

We had one at Castle Coombe a couple of years ago, so yes they do exist.
My old Mazda dealer mate, Alan Bryer, who is sadly not with us any more imported some when they were new

Just curious, price of that car would be...? :P
circa £30k (GBP)
The myth exists over here, too...
The import figures for R100s in Norway are actually quite impressive. It appears that all R100s sold in Norway arrived in the same batch sometime during 1969. And there were supposedly no less than 51 of them (compared to a total of 76 Rx2s)! So there are a still a few R100s around, if not quite as many as people looking for one.

Just to expand on this HG Bryer and Sons who were the very first Mazda dealer in the UK Imported a total of 5 R100's
Sorry, have to hold my horses a bit. The registers here are slowly getting online, with a bit of a backlog. So, now I find a total of 88 Rx2s (S122A, up from 74 last year) and 17 R100s (M10A). The M10As are spread across the model years 1969-71, with the main bulk being 1971 cars (so they cannot have arrived in one batch):
1969 1
1970 4
1971 12
Total 17
Curiosly, only 4 are confirmed scrapped (all 1971 cars), two are registered (one without an MoT), and the remaining 11 SORN. More will be likely to appear as the paper archives are slowly digitalised.

A very beautiful specimen:
R100 on auction – still with the original 10A by the looks of it.
Time for a ride in a mint R100
That looks pristine! Lovely car :love4:
Wow :great:

Works out at £36.5K probably would have got this for a stock car but not sure with these mods.
This one's cheaper. Although why on earth would you advertise an unconverted 1200 coupé as a "1969 Rx3" ::)

A little bit left of this myth:
Found out the other day, a guy over here has 2 R100's fitted with 12a Engines, so they are about.
More myth and carbon fiber than R100 left of this one, but... :D
Now we're talking! :love4:
4-door R100s don't show up every day. But here is one! :love4:
https://kuruma-ex.jp/usedcar/detail/ccAU6064654306 (https://kuruma-ex.jp/usedcar/detail/ccAU6064654306)
is this car in the UK? in japan the JDM for these is Presto. Very cool little cars
Yes, you're right. It's a second generation Familia and a Presto. :great: The Italian influence from Bertone lingered in the names, even though the Familia was by now an in-house design. This car is in Japan. I don't know if R100s were ever exported in any other form than the coupé.
Yes the R100's exist and we have at least two in the UK at the moment. The green one came from Switzerland and has just had a full restoration. Currently trying to get a UK reg on it but sadly its not staying in the UK. Many know the red one and here it is at the Mazda UK show we held a few years ago. The other picture is the same car from way back.
Great pics of stunning R100s! Thanks for sharing, Clive! :great:
Reputedly, only one batch of R100s were delivered to Norway. 55 cars, all 1969 models. When the vehicle register shows a 1973-model, it is one of these 55 cars, road registered first time in 1973. One worker at the Mazda dealership in Oslo, was allowed to take R100s out for racing at the traffic lights. BMW-owners would scratch their heads when a little Mazda left them behind. He crashed once during such a routine, writing the car off and bringing the number down to 54. :))
I've been told that the same man owned as many as 18 of those R100s over the years!
The R100s were rallied, too – also in the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally (see my latest YT video). As the pic below shows, Kjell Gudim drove it (and the tyres) to shreds. The Mazda importer, the Kolberg brothers, both raced R100s briefly in national competitions (see sample result page from november 1970).
Years ago I met Walter Frey and his brother. His brother interpreted and told me he had an unused R100 a crate.
This was way before the museum, so maybe it's in there now .
This is the one in the Frey Museum. Could be the one!
Wow!
