Title: Newby help please 2 or 4 seats????
Post by: wiggy on April 29, 2004, 10:24:07 AM
I know I know everyone hates the newby coz they ask loads of spazzy simple questions.....

Well this one might test you coz i cannot find an answer on the net anywhere???

How do you tell appart if a gen 3 RX7 has 2 or 4 seats????

I need to get a 4 seater to please the wife and I am importing it but I cannot read japanese, have no intention of learning how to and the auction reports are all in japanses. So you can see my problem.

I wondered if it was an option? Chassis code specific?? Car type specific??

Thanks all and I hope to be meeting up once I finally get one

Hi wiggy and welcome,

Have a look at this post  http://tinyurl.com/2ld8p  particularly the post by BNA_ELLIS  (Brian), it gives details of the different models and should allow you to work out which had 2/4 seats.

I assume you know how small the back seats are?

If you have a look theres a sticky somewhere around that has the types which have 2 seats.

EG, R2 and RZ off the top of my head.  Im sure it should be simple to see on autcion reports, just a number in a box - you want to have some idea of what your looking at on them if no-one is helping you!

As for rear seats, they are not very good.  You really cant put people in them.  With the passenger seat fully forward, you can get one person behind there.  Both passengers will be very uncomfortable so short trips only.  You wont be able to see out the passenger side as the person is in your way.  Should you get one with the storage buckets in the back, there will be a big supply of people prepared to swap you seats anyway.

Thanks guys, Its only for my daughter and I do have a second family car. If I just get 2 seats though the missus will throw a wobbler, calling me selfish etc, usual really.

So 4 seats, she can move forward and the daughter can sit in behind her on the off chance we all go out in it ;)

Cheers and I\'ll keep yu posted

where about in lancs are you matey ?

could be worth you coming to the north west meet - so you can meet a few of us ?

and i agree with what is being said - the seats are tiny - probably suit anyone under 14

My daughter is only 5 so she\'ll be OK I would think.

I am in Rossendale, where is the North west meet held. Would be great to come and speak to owners first hand about life with the car etc.

Thanks

rossendale - hummmmmm

its just off J21 on the M6 ( thelwall viaduct )

we usually have about 8 rx7 there , its a good laugh and a great place to get info about the cars

and a 5yr old - that should be fine and dandy - as long as she doesnt need a booster seat or anything like that

I managed to get one of my mates in the back all the way from harwich to yarmouth (80 odd miles) and he\'s around 6ft, 19 odd stone so you should be ok with a 5 year old :D

Funniest thing was my 5ft nothing 8 stone girlfriend was sitting in the front :D  lol, she wernt giving that seat up!

Like everyone says though they aint comfy but fine for kids:)

Any chance someone could send me a photo or three of the back seats in question? I have never actually seen what they look like in the back so it would be a big help.

If anyone has any please mail me at p.wigzell@btinternet.com

Thanks guys :D
