yes you will need to have roughly be at 530bhp to 540ish at the Flywheel. So about another 50 hp on what you have now, so you probably need to be running 1.4 to 1.5 BAR boost.
You will need softer suspension, tein RA are track focused dampers rather then Drag, drag spec tires,a clutch type diff, diff brace

you need to change all four coilovers and springs to a soft drag spec, like HKS Drag coilovers or they are companies that can build you some coilovers for Drag and soft springs. This allows the car to squat and stay squatted for the launch, this helps minimize wheel hop, improves grip, lessens wheelspin. You need to budget about £1000 for it

On my FC - although its not a 10 second drag car, it has the stock springs and dampers - comedy suspension setup as its so soft lol but ive found that this helps get the power down and im aiming for 13s at the next meet whereas someone with the same power (and indeed more) with harder suspension can\'t get near my times lol

You talk about how much power you need for this and that, you can have 1200bhp from a 20B but if you can\'t get the power down onto the track then its pointless lol :)

Also bear in mind that IIRC, a saving of 1kg in weight is equivalent to 1bhp in power-to-weight ratios which will help you no end on the strip.

If you havent thought about it already, i\'d consider putting your girl on a diet!!

Just ask the person building your engine or doing the mapping, what they have found necessary for the previous 10 second cars they have built, theory is ok, but proven results is the way to go.

I know someone who will build an engine for that purpose and warranty it as long as its mapped by them!!!.....I cant see why otheres cant do the same ....at the end of the day if you build it and map it for that purpose surely engine builders can gaurantee the work you have done?!!!:Hammer

I find alot of the time people seem to map cars very safe and offer a warranty...which is fine but if you have done all that is needed to a car for a particular purpose surely you can warranty your own work!!!..if not i feel its a bit of a cop out!!!

Engine builders/tuners please enlighten me!!!

trouble is Ed,  most people will have engine built but might not have a new pump, injectors, coils, wiring loom etc etc, and its the 15 year old ancilleries which generally cause the engine to fail not the quality of the build.

Yes you are right ant......funny i was discussing the same thing about two hours ago with someone.....but anybody who builds an engine and warranties it will attempt to find the cause of engine failure before the warranty is honoured.....so whats the difference?

Think of these 2 questions and correct me if im wrong on both answers.

1) How many RX7 engines are built and warrantied then blow up A) LOTS

2) How many get rebuilt under warranty A) ALMOST NONE.

Why? Is this.

Its because the tuner can say it blew up for a reason or number of reasons and who are you to argue with him. do you have a real case if not im afraid your up the creek if your expecting a free rebuild.
