Ok guys and girls here\'s the final plan for this Sunday. :wave
We are starting in Guildford at 10am in the big tesco\'s by the A3.
Post code GU2 7UN
Our final destination is The Badgers Watch Pub in Peacehaven just near brighton.
Post code BN10 7BE
So here\'s the route we\'ll be following... :D
From Tesco\'s we\'ll join the A3 southbound (Portsmouth) to the Milford junction to join up with the A283 (Passed T.W.Whites ;))
- Then follow the A283 towards Petworth
- At Petworth continue along the A283 till we get to Fittleworth and the B2138
- South on the B2138 to the A29
- Following this up Bury Hill we will Stop at the rest spot by the roundabout for the A29, A284 and B2139 - chance to stretch your legs
We\'ll stop here for a while, have a chat and let anyone who\'s been left behind due to any traffic lights/junctions or whatever to catch up.
- After our short stop we\'ll take the B2139 off the roundabout towards Storrington and join the A283
- Along the A283 to Bramber and then onto the A2037 at Upper Beeding
- North on the A2037 till we get to the A281
- East on the A281 till we join up with the A23
- South on the A23 till the A27
- East on the A27 passed Brighton till the junction of the B2123 (Sussex University)
- Follow the B2123 south to the A259.
- East on the A259 to Peacehaven and the pub is on the main road
I realise this doesnt end up in brighton after all but i believe Brighton will be extremely busy that day so parking anywhere could be an issue.
We have called the Pub and they are happy to have us. They dont take reservations but they have said if we get there for around 1pm then there then should be space for us all.
We can then have a drink and a bite to eat if you wish and maybe after that we can brave Brighton on our seperate routes home. :D
Looking forward to seeing you all there :D
Adam
Not the best maps but they\'re the best i could do.
The route is in pink :)

Nice one!
Here\'s the same route on Google maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=GU2+7UN&daddr=A3+to:A283%2FPetworth+Rd+to:B2138%2FTripp+Hill+to:A29+to:B2139%2FTurnpike+Rd+to:A283%2FSteyning+Bypass+to:A281%2FBrighton+Rd+to:A23%2FLondon+Rd+to:BN10+7BE&geocode=%3BFRhLDQMdkhj2_w%3BFTA5DAMdAFD2_w%3BFTRMCQMdFk33_w%3BFal_CAMdzDT3_w%3BFfrMCAMdhhP4_w%3BFSVXCAMdgFD7_w%3BFRQKCQMdrg38_w%3BFeVrCAMdj3n9_w%3B&hl=en&mra=mr&mrcr=1&via=1,2,3,5,6,7,8&sll=50.897295,-0.262985&sspn=0.075355,0.216122&ie=UTF8&ll=51.032758,-0.124969&spn=0.601088,1.728973&z=10) :Typing
Ian.
Cheers Ian. I tried to do that on there but it was way above my limited knowlegde :p
Adam
Blimey! you don\'t hang around, Ian!
I drove a fair chunk of this today, and noticed some points I thought I should share....
* The bit at Petworth may prove slightly confusing, as it\'s all a one-way system. We\'ll need to go into Petworth over the first roundabout and enter the one-way system, but turn left at the T-junction in the village rather than right
* It\'d be really easy to miss the turning onto the B2138 near Fittleworth cos it\'s on a nadgery narrow bit of road with really dark overhanging trees, but remember that and you\'ll spot the turning ok, it is signposted.
* If you do miss it, it isn\'t a disaster, just go on to Pulborough and turn right at the first mini roundabout after the sation, you\'ll end up on the same road (A29) to Bury Hill (Whiteways) rest stop, just a slightly longer way round
* Worth pointing out that the reason we decided not to end up in Brighton is cos the Ace Cafe bike run\'s on, but there\'s no reason the more intrepid amongst us can\'t mosey on along after we\'ve made it to the pub at Peacehaven, Brighton pier and the Marina are literally a 10 minute drive from the Badger\'s Watch
Any more useful stuff occurs, I\'ll stick it up here. All the usual drivel I\'ll post on the other thread :D Thanks again to Adam for spending time sorting it, top work, dude!
Cheers Nik for those bits :D
Really looking forward to this now. Should be good fun :D
Adam
Would have been better if I\'d said "turn left in Petworth rather than right" instead of putting "left" twice. Sorry, the edit\'s timed out now unless a passing mod could amend that?
Well done guys, thats a lovely route and fun to drive.
Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday...... goddam Sunday drivers :yes
And I promise to turn left instead of left coming through Petworth Nik......
Thanks for the hard work. :WaveBye
Fixde teh typeo :Laugh
Also attached is a TomTom itinerary for those who like to trust technology. Never used on the route before, so avoid signs to John\'O\'Groats :Giggle There are three destinations: Tesco carpark entrance, the layby stop, and the destination pub.
Really nice instructions Adam, and thanks for the driving advice Nik, its all made it easy to put all this together :D
Ian.
Well done Adam :Thumbsup! & looking forward to this :)
Thought I\'d better just bump this thread up a bit since it has the Final Plan on it :D
I was hoping to drive the last bit of the route to pick up some tips for routefinding but simply havent had time with work and stuff this week sorry! However, I thought it was important to put up a couple of pointers for finding the Bury Hill / Whiteways rest area since that\'s our mid-way stopping point for meeting up and letting everyone catch up.
It\'s at the top of a high hill on the A29 with two lanes up and one down, and a popular hangout for local Power Ranger bikers on a sunny Sunday, so look out for maniac two-wheeled organ donors on a "hot lap" on the hill. Depending on how well they\'re behaving, there may well be Plod around, too, so look out for them!
At the top of the hill is a short straight, and just when you see the big sign for the major roundabout, you\'ll notice a filter lane in the centre of the road literally just before the roundabout. You need to filter right into this in order to turn into the carpark. If you don\'t spot it in time, no problem, just do a circuit of the roundabout to come back to it.
Righto, hopefully see you all tomorrow then :yes
Just to add, there is also a take-away Cafe there :D & Toilets :Giggle etc......
Big thank you to everyone that turned up today and made this a fun days driving :Thumbs-up
It was great to look back and see us all in a convoy along those country roads. Thanks to jo for letting me drive ralph all day too, was an experiance :p
Well done to Aaron for bringing the comedy getting lost factor and for clive and his adventurous parking (you\'ll see ;))
Same again next year? :D:D
Adam
That was Fun :yes & Adam thank you for getting this off the ground :cheers
Photos to follow :wiggle
What a great day Adam thanks, can\'t wait till the next one!
Adam,
Thanks for organising this it was much appreciated, as I know only too well the work that has to go into this sort of event.
Sorry to have seemed like party poopers, but after the unavoidable stop and then the queuing traffic, us couple of oldens were desperately in need of a comfort stop.:2Rolleyes
Fortunately SatNav to the rescue and we made it to a convenient convenience before any accidents.:Laugh This also put us in close proximity of a known cafe that sold bacon butties and the lure was just too great. After the enforced stop and refreshments we were so close to the centre of Brighton, (Preston Park) that we proceeded to walk The Laines and the Pier and finished in a magic little Italian pizza place about 7.30 this evening.
So thanks for tempting us out of our rocking chairs, and although sorry we didn\'t get to join you all at the pub, we did manage to have a great time.
I thought the day was most triumphant personally. Big up to Adam for organising a top day, nice to do something different for a change. It was great to see a load of RX-8 peeps out and about, certainly opened my eyes to what a genuinely modifiable (is that a word?) car it\'s become now, some really nice examples today.
As always, good to meet new people as well as old friends and nice that a few of us FD types managed to drag ourselves away from trackdays/RWYB days/workshops to keep up the honour of the 7, too. Top marks to Aaron for being able to get even more lost than I usually manage, fantastic work, fella :rollin. Good fun trying to decipher Jinx\'s random rear light strategy, too!
The sight of the convoy burbling through leafy Surrey villages was worth the trip alone for me. Top Bombing!
It isn\'t random...it\'s just a unique form of semaphore to indicate I\'m slowing down. (They probably all go out if I brake really hard...though come to think of it I did have to do that once but you weren\'t there then to check.)
Many thanks to Adam for thinking of it and THEN organising it. As if to prove a point...I reckon we could have done it an hour...or maybe a little less. ;)

Adam
:p someone had to take the role... and i thought, if i\'m going to do it may as well do it properly! (twice!) :King
Thanks again Adam for organising and :yes for next year!
Had an interesting drive home too - heavy traffic for the most part on the M23 and about a kazillion bikes on the road (no over exaggeration, honest! :Giggle) so the police bikes were out in force! soo many temping moments :driving
Was a great day, good to meet you all and some really nice cars too!
Great route aswell, except the diversion through Poynings and the subsequent traffic jam! I blame my co-driver/navigator :D
Look forward to the next one!
