Title: Fuel tank leak
Post by: dthebuk on September 07, 2009, 02:06:37 PM
Ok so my fuel tank is leaking around the drain hole, i was told that i can get some sort of sealant to fix it up.

Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what to use and how to use it. Its not leaking much, maybe a drop every minute or so, but i cant get any welding done till its sorted.

Cheers

Apparently not too bad. Though i think the biggest issue is how much to post it?

Cheers for the parts btw, they all look in good nick, much better than the ones on my car!

The tank is easy to get off, only two strap bolts and the hose connections. The filler neck is not too bad. You could post for about £20 with Interparcel. Would have to be totally smelling of roses though!!  You can use araldite, thats good stuff for that sort of thing but may be too brittle. I have used windscreen sealant for similar things and works well but you have to have a good clean and dry tank before you apply anything. If its just the seal on the drain plug then just go buy a seal from Halfords, they should have one of those fuel seals, same as the ones on the fuel rail will do.
