Title: Need help quickly on 20"s
Post by: jamie_eaton on April 28, 2004, 11:54:11 AM
I know this has been discused before as i brought it up as well but im going ahead with it now.
They are going to be show use only as im attending a few this year.
I am going to purchase the lenso ap20\'s look amazing but i want to know what would be the correct tyres to go with them, i have bilstein coilovers so it could be raised a little or even have the arches grinded out a bit more, the company are asking what tyre size i need so they could sort me out with the full package, i have been to a few places and no help!!!

Ok, my best guess on 20\'s would be:

235/30 x 20 front

285/25 x 20 rear

You is mad, you is ;)

didn\'t steve (scary) have 20\'s on his car, he took them off cos of the rubbish handling and they kept ripping his arches out

Our Scary did have 20s on, and they did damage his arches (he bent the arches back with a set of pliers.... *shudder*).  Mind you, he P/X\'d the car because of reliability issues, bought a Skyline, which promptly went pop...

he sold the dead skyline to abbey for roughly the amount he paid on top of the P/X - essentially giving his RX-7 away...!! :(:(:(

that may be one of the saddest true stories I\'ve ever heard or told...

Here you go, Scarys car.

He only actualy drove the car with these on a couple of times and reverted back to 16\'s for normal use due to haveing no steering lock and the tyres eating the wings !! 19\'s seem to be the limit without Air Suspension if you wish to drive the car all the time, OJ\'s car is fine.

Its just my opinion but I think 20\'s are a bit too large on a 3rd Gen

Thanks for all your comments and the pictures posted!!, like i said i know it will affect the performance and handling but they will not be on permenantly. My trusty mechanic and sprayer said he can sort the arches out and respray what needs doing for free, so cant complain. Im ordering today, with the 285\'s on the rear and as soon as i get them here ill post up a pic!, thanks again! J
