Title: Steering Hose - Fix - Leak - Fix - Leak !!
Post by: paul3944 on September 04, 2009, 11:54:06 AM
Has anyone else had any problems with the Power Steering Reservoir return hose ?

It begins to leak where the hose connects onto the reservoir, I have replaced the clips, put two clips on, Gasket sealer then clips !.

I think the design of the plastic reservoir is causing the leak, the four tabs that strengthen the plastic return that the hose slides onto is flaring out the house and the clips can’t get a 100% seal around it.

Looks like I will have to go to a dealers and order a new hose :( £££££
and wait for that to fail

You\'re not pushin it over the strengthening ribs are you? If so, you don\'t need to push it that far, just butt it up to them :)

The hose I\'m running is slightly larger than the nipple, and I have no issues at all.
Are you using the OEM clamps? Try some proper worm drive jubilee\'s :)

Thanks for the uber quick reply !

I\'ll have to go and take another look at.

It was leaking when I bought the car and maybe I\'m thinking now some of the original plastic pipe coming from the resevoir has snapped off, as the hose is butted up to the resevoir.
