im due to have my engine rebuilt next month sometime and at the same time i am looking at getting a PFC, my question is is it better to get the rebuild and install the PFC and get uit mapped duiring the run in period or is it better to get past the run in period and install and map it then?
also where would i be able to get a PFC and commander for a 1995 L reg FD and who is the best at mapping them?
thanks for your help in advance
Kris
also which o0ne would i need and where is the best place to get them?
thanks for all the help
L plate isnt a 95 mate more like 1993 and its a 92-96 pfc you want (the 8bit version)
No point mapping during the run in as you dont really wanna be giving it any beans through the first few hundred miles so best to wait till you get a 1000mile on it or so, Im sure whoever builds the engine for you will advise the best way for this
Put Power Fc ecu on straight after rebuild, run it in on that and then get it mapped after run in.

cheers everyone i think il do what hayward says

bit of a thread revival, just wondering what other peoples (namely tuners) think of this.
rebuild engine then run in before mapping
OR
rebuild and map straight away, then run in
PS Not implying i dont trust haywards but just want to see what other tuners say :)
lol no other tuners are members on this forum , so you wont get a lot of information, it all depends on the spec of the car, if its twins with a few mods then run in of 500 miles and map afterwards is the norm.
If it is a big spec single, a short run in period of say a couple hundred miles then mapping. Most Drag cars due to their nature have a run in period of a few metres haha
1000 miles is what i reccomend on metal apex seals.
On Ceramics I reccomend 2000 miles.
When ecu is added to car a running in map can be added which can be mapped later on after run in for full map.
