Title: Just replaced my oil metering pump lines, oh the fun!
Post by: pigeon on August 22, 2009, 07:44:51 PM
Well what a fun job that was to do! At least i was able to simplify the rats nest and get shot of a whole load of stuff i dont need.
So having put new lines in they are obviously dry and i will have to wait for the oil to fill the lines upto the injectors. What im wondering is, is it ok to drive sensibly for a while till they have filled or do i need to run pre-mix for a couple of tank fulls.

Thanks Adam

Personally as a precaution I would run premix for a tank of petrol, but I would also squirt some 2 stroke in to the engine via the spark plug holes and turn the engine over by hand and add 2 stroke into each chamber just to make sure.
The exhaust will be really smokey for a bit (like a new build) but will clear eventually, I would let it idle for a while especially until the smoke clears. Then hopefully you should have oil in the oil metering lines.

Ok i shattl give that a try cheers. Any preference to which 2 stroke oil to use. I have some silkolene super two injector which i use in my crosser would that be ok?

Thanks Adam

Just a good quality 2 stroke oil will do as it does not take long for the oil to get through. I have a seperate tank so was able to monitor the oil more closely as my lines I upgraded to braided. 2 stroke in the tank will never do any harm and in fact gives better lubrication.

I know that Prof is running marine 2 stroke, which is used as marine engines run at high RPM for a long time, so need extra protection

Cheers guys. Just been for a steady test drive and all seems well :D
Think when the time comes to pull the turbos off i shall do away with the omp and just run premix.

Thanks Adam

Fun job aint it lol. Yeah im still on the first tank full but all seems well. Im half tempted to run a little bit of premix as well as the omp.
I shall definately do away with the omp all together when the turbos come off and just run premix.
