Title: Advice needed on RX8 Purchase
Post by: jay on August 20, 2009, 10:16:36 PM
Hello peep\'s some of the older members may remeber from about 4 years ago as I owned a RX7 for about 5 years. Anyway the wife has decided she wants an RX8 and i need some advice really as I know NOTHING about them.
Do they rebuilding like the RX7 do after a while and is there anything in particular to look out for, also 60k+ mileage a no no?
Cheers in advance;)

Hi Jay, hope your well, good to see you back,

Use the knowledge you gained with your RX-7 and transfer this to the RX-8 with the prime thing still being that they start cleanly both hot and cold,

We are now seeing many many RX-8 with an easy 100 and 150 plus K with no problems at all, yes there are cars out there that have had early rebuilds but proportionate to the amount out there on the roads this number is low.

From experience gained I now know it would be prudent to budget in a set of coils and leads into the price of any car you buy as these items have proved again and again to be the Achilles heel of these cars with many problems resulting from these parts.

The wise ones are now changing these parts purely as insurance,

p.s you will like the handling on the RX-8:chat

Hope this helps

So is the coils and leads about the same kinda money on a regular inline 4?

Im coming from a Twinspark Alfa so 8plugs from a 4cyclinder can work out expensive lol
