Post by: alxlaw on August 19, 2009, 10:57:54 PM
well as the car seems to handle like a barge and run like a piece of .... - im basically sick of it in general im thinkin about lowering it or setting fire to it:Hammer:Hammer(sod all else to do) throwing money at pip gets me no where other than in debt so......

what will the car look like on these?

yes i know there \'only springs\' but the wgt bills suck all my money away so they\'ll have to do (booked in AGAIN)

should\'v bought that starion i had my eye on!!......anyway

got some old 18\'bbs off my old 300 that im gonna throw on it

here\'s a photo shop - (commence lol\'ing)

ooo i like the pic. But i doubt it\'d look that low on the springs. Also i usually find that 18\'s are over kill on FC\'s. Its definitely worth putting coilovers on these cars, it really shows you what they\'re all about.

If its really handling like a barge it could mean your standard shocks and springs are ruined, so lowering springs might not do the world of good. Rear bushes also tend to go on the TII\'s

hmm, well the front seems really stiff, and looks like it has adjustable turny knob things on it.... which in turn just makes the rear seem wallowy, there not leaking and they bounce right (i e 1 and a half bounces) pip checked the bushes cos i was told they all fail he said they were sweet - i know it wont look that low but the 500 quid that\'d be spent on coilies would be better being spent on making the car \'just run\' would be nice if it would just run lol! barely drive it anyway n when i do it stalls at every set of traffic lights......... grrrrrrrrrrr

got alotta spare time in hospital as you can tell :P

becareful with the springs - im sure you need ones for the cab as its a lot heavier than the coupe

still confused at the running probs you are experiencing though ???

What are the bushes like? mines got \'comedy suspension\' as its quite bouncy with my shot shocks, stock springs and perished bushes lol but its fab for launches down the drag strip lol

heavier = lower :P - your prob right, i cant get my head round the running problems, neither can pip, i just want an idle, the power is nice, feels good but the amount of air leaks you can hear whilst its running is ridiculous, next time i buy a show car ill bare in mind that means \'its only good for lookin at\' lol!

was gonna buy one of these! lol!

Hmm, im pretty sure you could get some used coilovers for less than that. But if you\'re worried about spending monies. I\'d just cut the springs for now, that way you can get the right ride height!

thats a little too pikey even for me!! monies are only an issue as id rather throw em at pip to get a drivable car back, i knew it was gonna be a labour of love n i do love FC\'s but its taking the .... outta me atm! lol, all good fun tho - :evillaugh

has anybody got any pics of 35mm springs on an fc with 17\'s (or 18\'s)?

-No ReWorx are always too busy for anything to be done about it, which is a little rubbish!

-The wheels are 17\'s but just didn\'t feel the arches so got a set of 18\'swhich do it nicely.

-The spring are eibach springs & running them on my standard shocks was surprisingly good, ace for city driving.

dtheb you got any vids of that thing hanging its arse out? whats it like with a welded diff REALLY be honest! \'could\' you use it as a daily drive?

ps love the look of that tII!!

if i could find some coilies for around the 150 - 200 mark then i might concider it but for now im sticking to springs that\'ll stiffen it up at the back loads anyway...... i hope :)

my mate has one of the fd. But nothing of the FC im afraid. Actually thats a lie, its in this for a bit, but not sideways :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N_kGctM048

. Only time ive stuck the end out in the FC once it had the diff i got ....y and span out. I blamed the rear steer, so got started on moving the bushes and ended up breaking the hubs. So just waiting on parts :D

tbh with a welded diff its brilliant. It puts sooo much power down through the corners, you really begin to see how rubbish the open diff is. Living with its fine. The diff just acts as a brake when your turning slowly on full lock, so you have to be more positive with it. If you\'re not bombing it or turning slowly (sub 5 mph) it isnt noticeable.
Its harder to live with the kei office coilovers, they\'re stupidly stiff. You realize why once your hit the corners though :D

Weld the diff and never look back :D

right!

think there gonna discharge me today - altho i still cant walk un aided or with crutches...... but hey i can get on with the car and as i cant drive it for at least 2 weeks i can do stuff to it, (or get willing friends too) :P

sort the ecu
fix the vac pipes/ air leak
weld the diff
stick my 18\'bbs alloys on
get those 35mm springs on too......(would i be a pikey if i cut the top coil off the lowering springs?) i mean the cars gonna be higher by an inch overall what with it having 1" bigger wheels ......and i love your ride height dthb!

Good man!

Remember the car may be higher by an inch, but the wheel will also sit an inch higher in the arch, so 1 inch + the 35mm. You might find that lowering + 18\'s will call for some tyre stretch and some arch rolling.

Ha cheers :D It just needs some 17\'s now!! Oh and good luck with the recovery. With a bit of luck, once you sort the leak you shouldn\'t any troubles with your ecu!!

I\'d use a welded diff on a daily any day. It doesn\'t make you spin out and its far more predictable than a locking diff. Only thing that people seem to have an issue with is the wheel hop when you\'re going stupidly slow, which really isn\'t a problem!

with the open diff in the rex it will go but requires so much more effort and only in the rain

public roads? never :P the 300 was better then the 200 and the 180 imo for being able to comfortably sitting in drifts altho that was with a 1.5 diff
Title: lowering
Post by: dthebuk on August 21, 2009, 11:05:41 AM
a 1.5 way will feel the same as any other decent decent diff whilst drifting forwards. Its just differenent for initiations and maybe transitions :D Infact i doubt you\'d notice the difference between that and a welder mid drift :D

I don\'t think mine is an open diff either. It locks up well and I get a little wheel hop at really slow speeds when turning sharp. It may have been replaced with an FD or aftermarket one at some point but I have no paperwork for it unlike the other mods on the car.

im just gonna cut a few mm off the arm that the track rod end bolts too and weld it all back together with a few strengthinig plates not gonna to involved if i fail which i probably will lol i will just have to buy the mazdatrix steering lock kit which consists of new knuckeles track rods and rod ends
