Title: Which engine for 13B cosmo?
Post by: rotary3 on August 18, 2009, 01:55:18 AM
I have a friend who has a 4th gen Mazda Cosmo 13B with loss of compression, hence needing a new engine. Would a 13B turbo from an RX7 be suitable, or are there any other choices. Keep in mind he doesn\'t want to spend too much, therefore please don\'t mention 20B. Does anyone know a good source of used or reconditioned rotary engines?

The engine mounting points are different on the 13BRE as well as the Front cover I believe, inlet and exhaust ports are different so its not as simple as dropping in a rx7 13B REW into the cosmo bay. It will probably be cheaper to have the Cosmo engine rebuilt.
You are looking at 2 to 3K to get hold of a second hand cosmo engine, for that you might as well get the current one rebuilt which will last many more miles.

Get some prices of rebuilds and secondhand cosmo engines from the only place I know who might have cosmo parts in stock. RXMOTORS http://www.rxmotors.co.uk 01725 516462
