Welcome into the forum mate :) what modifications have been done to the car? what does the temperature gauge read when it did that? is the air seperation tank in 1 piece or cracked? :)
hi cheers for the quick reply
the water is coming from the cap nearer the centre of the engine bay which has CAUTION NEVER OPEN written on it and the figures 0.9 on it too just infront of the strut brace..
If you are referring to the cap ontop of the aluminium filler neck (next to the airpump) then that should not have a pressure cap on it. It should be a normal cap. The pressure cap should be on the black water tank next to the intercooler. Anyhow, check the rubber seal is ok on the cap and try replacing the cap, as they are known for going wrong
i have removed both caps and they both have the spring pressure things on them the one at the front of the engine bay defo needs replacing as the rubber seals on it are jaffed but the cap in question seems fine except it does have a springy thing under it...sorry for all the technical terms eg springy thing!
The cap in the middle defo shouldn\'t have a spring on it as this would cause it to leak, unless it has a FC filler neck modification, so maybe post up a pic.
You could always check yours against pics of others to see if its standard.

if the rubber seal is ....ed, then thats prob your leak right there. Although, the centre filler shouldnt have a pressure cap, i have used pressure caps in both before in emergencies and never lost water due to it

Your right mate, got it the wrong way round you cant fit a non spring one to the AST.:Hammer Had a big drive thats my excuse ha ha.
Phil
right but what is an ast? sorry i never had to get this technical with my last rex
Air Separation Tank, the tank on the right hand side, that has to have a spring cap. Just look at Jits first post as thats totaly correct.
Phil
so the aluminium cap on the left should not be a spring cap? cause this is the one that has leaked... left hand side as you look at the engine bay from the front of the car...cheers
right its the filler neck cap that is leaking it does have a springy underside and it shouldnt, my AST tank cap looks a bit perrished around the rubber underside so could this be a additional problem too....?
i think i\'ll just buy two new caps and do a coolant change what do you think?
