Title: Increasing the charge cooling - FD3
Post by: suba on August 15, 2009, 04:41:45 PM
After getting the stage three BNR turbos on my car it seems like my Trust / Graddy SMIC can\'t cope with the charge temps - they are getting into the mid 50\'s at the top end of third gear.:(

So I need to go V-mount or Front mount - what are the best options for this considering that my RX fund has now been considerably depleated, and what is this going to cost me?

I want to keep my standard front bumper - so the new IC will have to fit behind it....

:)

Go V-Mount, I see Intake temps of 30 degs coming off track in the summer.:Thumbs-up ( 575 bhp )

I\'ve got the standard ducting, which has been made even worse by the 42mm rad I installed in the standard location (as low as I could) which needed a lot of trimming of the stuff above it - I was going to look at ducting next, but I think that any ammount of ducting is not going to bring the temps down into the 30\'s, and I will be track daying the car - so I have to have confidence in the cooling.

its just that i think Atomic might have a decent duct for the trust SMIC with a large rad. I could be wrong, might be worth asking him about it though.

If you are willing to do some DIY, V-mount your current setup :) It\'[s not as hard as the cost of the kits would make you believe.

I\'d certainly be interested  in finding out more about how to do it.  If the Greddy SMIC was mounted where air could get to it well enough would it do the job?
