Title: Ebay exhaust.... (pics etc)
Post by: Jim_rx7 on August 14, 2009, 08:32:02 PM
Wasn\'t happy as to how quiet my old exhaust system was.

I had a HKS downpipe, midpipe (unknown brand), racing beat single exit.

Compared with my previous Rx7, the above was quite quiet.

So I bought this exhaust from ebay......

Seems decent quality to be honest, expecially for the price anyway. It should also sound reasonably loud I would guess! :)

I\'m currently in the middle of rebuilding my engine, so only time will tell.

I also got a downpipe, which is not advertised in the auction - so a bonus there.

I\'m swithering over using this downpipe over the HKS one as it does looks like it\'s possibly slightly better flowing compared with the HKS? - Any thoughts? My only concern about it would be the possibility of it cracking etc.

Anyone else took the plunge and purchased an ebay exhaust before?

Hopefully thats designed for rotary exhaust temperatures lol :) else the packing in the back box will burn up and everything will get really loud :D it does look a pretty good kit though :)

as you say a bonus with the d/p as well looks like you got a good deal,as you also said time will tell with the fit and performance.

The louder the better!! lol

It\'s only a weekend toy anyhoo. I don\'t do any track days etc.

I\'ll be sure to get the attention of the fuzz though. DOH!

I\'m just hoping my diffuser will fit on ok with the exhaust in place.

Use the HKS DP or the new one??

Can\'t complain at £200 for a complete exhaust system tbh.

Isnt it a rebranded japspeed system?  Japspeed stuff is pretty decent to be honest, i have full japspeed system on my s15.  Makes SR20DET sound fairly good (which is hard considering there monotone drone is so awful!) so imagine rotary will be crackin!

I imagine so, or something along those lines.

I very much doubt they make them themselves.

I would rather it had no branding on it at all, but hey.

Looking forward to the neighbours reaction. They weren\'t the best fans of my last Rx7, which was VERY loud.

When I was over at JM garage when I got my custome exhaust done, we took all the exhaust off and started it up :2Rolleyes was quite loud :Giggle

Perhaps make a video before and after the exhaust change :)

"Mazda RX7 1992-2001 (FD3S) Turbo and Non Turbo" :Hammer

Looks ok but i bet you a 100quid that downpipe won\'t fit. Steering linkage is in the way.

Quite possibly tbh. I\'ll compare it to the j
hks one tonight.

I contacted them and they said I got the dp by mistake. But I still get to keep it. Lol

will take some comparison pics against the hks tonight.

I would say the likley hood of the DP fitting is slim to none, unless I converted it to a LHD car!

The HKS has an indentation in it etc and is a bit flatter where the steering thing comes down. The new one is totally different and just doesn\'t look like it would fit at all.

I\'ll offer it up all the same and see how it goes.

Yeah, its the same issues I had when looking for cheaper exhaust parts for my FC, the cheaper parts are from the states, which are LHD (silly idea hehe)
