Post by: MiniMike16V on August 11, 2009, 11:47:31 PM
Just had a stainless cat back system fitted, mainly to fix the problem of the old leaky exhaust :2Rolleyes

Is there any exhaust places that people can recommend for FC EGI exhausts that cover the whole lot. Front pipe, manifold etc?

Many thanks

Mike

you can buy a ready made racing beat one which mazda rotary parts sell. The manifold itself is said to give an extra 20bhp. Other than that, JM garage were thinking of fabricating a few decent manifolds up i think, you\'d have to ask them.

Chat to JM garage for exhausts, did a full system on mine, turbo back and can do exhaust manifolds to a very high spec, I would 100% recomend him :)

JM garage? As in the Porsche specialist? How much was your exhaust?

Do you know anyone who has a system by them on here, and how they sound? Just the exhaust I have is pretty savage between 3-4k in the cab. Not really after a massive noise, just a nice sporty sound and appearance to the exhaust.

im looking for new exhaust as my front pipe is bit hole\'y...

Question on EGI there is two extra pipes going into the exhaust from the engine.. what are these? and can you block them up and just have the exhaust?

Nick

Yeah those are for where the air pump goes in for the emissions reduction, if you still have cats then if you take these out the cats will implode due to the crazy heat :D

In the process of getting a new exhaust for my FC from JM garage. So far i\'ve had the manifold fitted, and when funds allow i\'ll be getting the rest of the system done.
Found out that it was a good job I was getting it done! The manifold "canister" was knackered, and the downpipe was shot too!!

So after getting that removed, the air pump has also been removed too. All been replaced with a new shiny manifold.

The Cat had to be removed too as the bolts on the flange were smooth instead of threaded so am currently running it with no Cat. The only silencers are the ones at the back, and my god does it rasp!!!:rollin

Will have a vid up soon to show how bad I mean :Thumbs-up

It\'s not too bad to be honest. it\'s loud yeah, but it\'s bearable :D

haven\'t been told of any flames though. She does give off a nice pop n bang at times when given a bit of fruitful acceleration :driving

that manifold is quite a weird shape, looks good though.

Egi\'s are nuts. Mine used to sound much better than the TII does now. And when the pops and bangs are usually louder too :D

Yeah my car was the gray FC in there getting a new downpipe lol it was there for a while hehe :)

THe manifold he has got is equilengh so should give some good gains as it has good gas extraction, plus it needs about 2" of straight runner for maximum power :)

That\'s a very nice motor you have there man. Actuallya little bit jelous :mmmm

Have a couple vids to show how the car sounds with the equal length headers, and only silencers being the rear boxes! She will have a full JM Garage system as of the end of October :cool

Both videos are of the same moment, only one lasts a bit longer and you can here the car heading up the slip road.;)
Don\'t like going too fast as with the noise this thing makes, Mr Plod would most deffinately notice me :evillaugh

I wasn\'t speeding at any point in the vids. The roundabout is actually a national speed limit roundabout, and I did an agressive slip road run to 70

Definitely sounds nice (although a bit distorted). Do you mind me asking how much the manifold and down pipe cost? Only I am looking to get really soon!

Thanks

The equal length headers to the centre pipe cost me £300. Getting the rest of the system done at the end of the month.

The prices JM Garage emailed me are:

To give you an idea:
Equal length headers £300
Silenced centre section £150
twin rear mufflers £470

Hope that helps :Thumbs-up
