Title: Duplicate keys
Post by: muzzyd on April 26, 2004, 11:26:47 AM
Can Mazda UK order duplicate keys for your import?  I lost my baggage at the airport and my car keys were in it so couldnt take my car home.  As I lost it between the airport and train station I dont know if it will be found.  (Missed direct flight and had to take a detour so landed at a different airport to car:()

Can they cut you a new one base don chassis?

OK for a dealer to order/cut keys for your car they need the key identification tag. Without that you wont get a match, and will need either one or all locks replaced. :(

Do you not have a spare key? If you do you can go in to any key shop and get a replacement. The MX-5 is the same type. ;)

I only got 1 key with the car and I have no idea about the identification tag:confused:

Does this mean I really need the original?

well obviously you need the original to get copies of it made, but if you don\'t have that then you\'ll need the locks replaced

See if you insurance covers it as it ain\'t cheap

Rule No.1 - Always get a spare key cut befores it too late

The only other option is to get a good mechanic to take the barrel out and take that to a key cutter.

Dave I now have 3 spares at home just in case. ;)
