Title: Falken FK452 any good for an FD?
Post by: probedb on July 27, 2009, 08:09:10 PM
Hi folks,

Well after 3 years the Nankangs on the front of my FD look to finally need replacing and I\'ve been looking at these.

Not after the best of the best because I can\'t afford them. They\'re just going on the front for the moment and will be 235/40 18s.

Any thoughts on the Falkens?

Cheers :)

Paul.

I have them all round on my car too, fantastic tyres for the price.

Oh and I found ordering direct from Falken to be much cheaper than any of the so called bargain tyre sites (blackcircles, mytyres etc)

Great tyres for the price - had them on the FD and 200SX\'s.

I\'m not surprised that the Nankangs lasted 3 years wear on the front, what I am surpised at is that they haven\'t killed you by understeering you into a hedge in those 3 years.

Hateful things, Bleurgh.

Only bonus is that they are made of rocks, so last literally forever. There are 3 things in this world that will survide a nuclear war:
....roaches. (Oh FFS swear filter, that\'s frickin\' ridiculous!)
POR15
All Nankang tyres ever made.

The Springfield tyre fire is made of Nankang NS2\'s, that\'s why it burns with an eternal flame. Fact.

Another thumbs up for 452\'s from me, on my second set and apart from my toe-in wearing out the fronts too quick they have been faultless.

Better than some other more expensive rubber imo

Plus they stand up to light (note: light) track abuse, without falling apart, like the old Eagle F1 GSD3\'s did.

They seem to have pretty good review looking around. I\'ve got some on the rear at the mo...it just happens some of us don\'t have the cash for really good tyres when you find a nail stuck in the sidewall :) Nexens are ....e in the wet from my experience though.

But it means I can save now and get some decent ones!

I don\'t have the cash, but there are some decent tyres around in the budget range that are a LOT better than Nexen\'s and the like - Kumho KU31\'s, Falken 452\'s, and the like are all very good for the money :)

Indeed, but the Nexens are still cheaper as a temporary replacement when you\'re completely skint...I only drive a bit at the weekends so it\'s not like they get hammered all the time.

I got them on the rear at the mo... getting Falkens now though by the look of it...

FYI the nexens have been round the nurburgring about 25 times and still look like new .. Must admit though they were very damp days .

Before I go and buy these, does anyone have experience of the Toyo Proxes T1-R?

I can get 2x 255/40 R17 Y (98)Reinforced & 2x 235/40 R17 Y (90) Reinforced fitted for £447.30 from Black Circles.

These are reinforced so I think that they offer more protection if a blow out was to occur??

Either way both tyres seem good value.

Thanks
Ben
