Title: Crappy Halfrauds
Post by: FD3S Efini on July 16, 2009, 11:59:45 PM
I have bought a front bumper splitter aand im going to colour code it witht the car so i went down to halfrauds to see if they had any paint for the car, i saw the advert on tele saying that they can give you the paint for your specific car by giving the the year, make and model...what a load of ........ the useless workers there were crap and dint even bother checking the computer so i need to find the paint code and head back there tommorow.

so after my little rant lets get to business lol does anyone know the paint code for a 1995 red efini RX-7?

all help is appreciated

Cheers,

Kris

When you go into Halfords, tell them its a UK car as it lists nothing for an import. Friend works at a local shop.

I wouldnt let halfords mix your paint, thay allways get it wrong even with the paint code. It allways comes out a different colour because thay never make it up right

It\'s no good just buying the paint buy the colour code. As your car will be about 15 years old it will have faded, get a body shop or paint suppler to match the colour on your car to a matching chart. I know this as I\'m on my third J9 competition yellow 3 different company\'s three different j9 colours and the last one came out to match the colour. I\'m just pi--ed off as the paint is costing me £126 plus Vat for a liter of paint and a liter of coloured lacquer.

Nice list...
... as you can see, for example, there are several different paint codes for "Silver Stone", so always check the plate in the engine bay :)

[As far as I can tell, most Silver Stone FDs have the paintcode: 3L]

Now, can anyone provide a similar list for the paint colours on the stock alloys wheels :) Or know of a paint that\'s a good match!

Edit: and Bazza is completely right, the colour match won\'t be spot on, as the paint will have aged, and changed colour. Not to mention that metallics are a complete nightmare to colour match!

Any chance of a helpful passing Mod making that list of codes into a sticky?

Just ask for the colour books and match it yourself. Much easier, but there is 4 telephone books of paint codes :Giggle

Ermm....Whilst i agree that its a good sticky to have, surely it would be more useful if it had a better title as opposed to "crappy halfrauds"?

Yep, the title is very misleading for that list! I wondered why it had been made a sticky at first.

Try asking for Chaste white PT, they say there\'s two different shades with two completely different mixes.
I scanned the above paint codes etc and I can only see one Chaste PT and there\'s only one in the canned paint catalog but Halfrauds say nope there\'s two.
DON\'T TRUST THEM

halfrauds mix paint is virtually hit and miss, all depends on the person who mixes it, i used to do it and even if i went 0.1g over i used to throw it away and start again where as there are some that get it "there abouts" and think its ok
