Hi Rotorheads,
I currently own a stock 92 FD3S RX7.
I have just bought a power fc and commander for the car, but on purchase didnt know whether it was a 8 bit jobby or 16 bit jobby,
now i have been told by another member that the one i have purchased is a 8 bit and that s the one i need to work on my car.
But i would have liked to have purchased a 16 bit, what are the differences between the 2 and would it be possible to run the 16 bit even though the car is a 92??
Regards JOhn :Thumbs-up
The 16 bit is for later models only after 96 i believe, and would not work on your car, the 8 bit is for your year of car.
Bob
Thats great Bob thans mate!
But im still no where closer finding out what the differences are in the 2 power fc\'s ....
I have owned quite a few jap cars like 200sx\'s etc, and the power fc\'s for them particular cars you were able to use later power fc\'s like the d-jetro version which run map sensor, surely it is possible to use the lastest version on a earlier rx7??
If anyone could help me on this is would be great :Talking1
Thats totally different - to use a D Jetro on a normal S-body you need to replumb everything, wire in a MAP sensor, and an air temp sensor.
L-Jetro was only \'Plug and Play\' on and S14 AFAIK. To use even the L-Jetro on an S14a you need to buy an S15 PFC and swap some pins around.
The D-Jetro wasn\'t a later version, it was an alternative version. And there wasn;\'t even a Kouki specific PFC of either type, hence why you have to use the S15 one with pin swappage.
You have the right PFC, be thankful, they\'re getting rarer!
Hey, i know its different i was just using it as an example...... i know the differences between the l-jetro and d-jetro... and it isnt a big job to re-plumb
Yes it was a alternative version... but it was a newer model... by running more different sensor\'s..... and im sure they also offer more parameters on the software....??
I wasnt once dissing the 8 bit for the rx-7 i think any power fc and commander is a great piece of kit..... i was just speculating to whether it was possible to run the 16 bit instead of the 8 bit....
And i am very grateful thanks Sih.... r0284 is a legend!!
again thanks for reply\'s Guys :Thumbs-up
Apexi re-released the 16bit ECUs for all generations of FD. However, the 16bit commanders won\'t work with the 8bit PFCs.
Pip told me that 16bit PFCs are sometimes prone to crashing, which is why im happy ive got an 8bit! I\'m fooked if i can find a commander for it though!!
I thought all PFC\'s were 16 bit, which one\'s are 8 bit?
IIRC the ones with serial number 414-z001 and z002
I need a commander for a late spec FD. 99 spec. Anybody got one? :)
