Title: Need a battery to go to Pod on Sunday!!!
Post by: Smifta on April 22, 2004, 10:41:57 PM
People!

I have renently found out that my battery is dead :( Anyone got any idea where I can get one of those \'small\' style batteries from? Is it the kinda thing that Halfrauds would stock?

I am really keen to get to the Pod on Sunday, and don\'t want to stall on the start line, then push it a 1/4 mile !!!

Heeelp !!

Cheers,
Alex.

Ian,

If you are definately going to the Pod, and you can get some charge into that battery, then I could get a jump to drive to the Pod, then swap in your bad-boy when I get there. Whadaya say?

Go on ;)

Ill post tomorrow and let you know for sure if thats OK?

Ian,

I\'m not convinced that I do have the stock battery tray. I think I mentioned that it was a a small battery, is that stock? I

have an front mount IC, and I think that means there is less room for the stock battery. My battery sits on a steel shelf with a bolt-down bracket that holds it on top. Is that normal?

hehehe! Normal FD! Bit of a paradox really!! :rollin

I havent got a front mount although its stock mount aftermarket intercooler. Battery sits on a shelf that has a box around it and a cover. Want the size of the battery I have?? It is quite small as it fitted like a tit in a bowler hat within the box!

Hi Alex,

Here\'s a pic of your engine bay. I thinks it\'s the smaller nissan micra size battery. I can\'t quite remember and pic is not too clear?

I thought that 20B\'s Micra comment was a joke! So if I call up a Nissan dealer, would their Micra batteries fit? Or can I get a Micra battery from Halfords? Dumb questions really!

You can definatly get a Micra Battery from Halfrauds matey. HB54. Now before I get all sorts of accusations my way about being an anorak or some kind of Halfords junky, the only reason I know this is that a Micra battery is the same fitment as the FTO!! However when  you consider that Micras are 1L four cylinder babies, and the FTO is a 2L V6........well need I say more?? LOL!

Hey matey!

I am sorted! Got my ass down Halfords and bought a Micra battery, it was a little wider than the current one, and a bit heavier too (not too much). It\'s in now, and the weather for the Pod looks great for tomorrow!

Look forward to seeing you there, I should be there late morning / lunchtime.

Woohoo!

Cool and the gang!! Play time for the boys then which should be a laff! Havent been to the Pod since I had the FTO and that was 190BHP at the fly and FWD. Now got about 350 at the fly going to the rear wheels!!! hehehe!

It looks like we could be close then :) Apart for the fact that I haven\'t ever done this kind of thing before! I was tempted to try some practice runs on the roads around here, thought better of it. I\'ll just have to look like a muppet for the 1st few runs !!!!
