hey guys i have had this problem since about a week after i bought the car, so i fitted a boost gauge to see what was happening
right symptoms!:
i have what sounds like a blowing comming from the exhaust, either from the downpipe or one of the turbo gaskets
the boost gauge is showing 10 psi on the first turbo then it dropps to about 8.5, then at the change over the second turbo hits just under 10 psi then drops off again to between 8 and 7
i think the car is running quite rich as it does pop every now and then
the only mods i have is breather filters on the air pump lines and some cone filters on the inlet
i have checked the rats nest and cant see any split or popped off hoses
also the boost gauge doesn\'t show a steady reading it does wobble very slightly (is this normal?)
things i am going to check next is try a different boost gauge incase this is faulty and then check all the one way valves
the question i am asking is basically do these symptoms point to any 1 hose or solanoid to look at first or do i just havto check every last one?
thanks for reading lol
unfortunatly it doesn\'t point to one thing :( the sequential system is a mind bender at the best of times, but when working it is awsome! although.... you cold check the prespool solonoid pipes & actuator!

Worth changing all the check valves for viton ones to start.
I had a very similar problem which took months to sort and was eventually sorted by pip. my second was creeping to 13psi then the stock ecu was retarding ign and dropping boost to 6psi.
where can i get these viton check valves from because ive been looking for some for ages?
any1 else got any ideas?
viton check valves from ebay.com (USA) is the best place to get them ;)
But the set I bought, I found they stuck shut & caused other problems :(

I got mine off this guy from the USA just send him an email and he should be able to sort you out. I think a set cost about $20 posted.
His Details

Believe he is called Dave Clarke or Dale Clarke but have a search on the US ebay
I\'d start with the blowing exhaust first. Find out where its blowing from and sort that out first, otherwise you could be peeing into wind with trying other things.

this is the standard boost pattern. 10psig on first turbo, 8-ish at change over, then 10psig when both on song.
If your problem is after changeover that kinda suggests to me a problem with the pipes around the secondary turbo. Although the pressure is the same as with primary alone, any piping on the second turbo lines may have a leak or a hole leading to loss of boost after 10psig.
If that makes sense!!
Also double check all the silicone couplers especially the one on the top of the y pipe for tiny cracks or even if it looks like its got hard/brittle.
As trotter said above it does sound like a leak on your second turbo piping
i have changed the coupler off the y pipe a while ago because it kept blowing off
quick question tho have any of you had the plastic intercooler pipe comming from the y pipe slpit and leak? because the bracket on mine where it bolts to the block has snapped off, so it could be leaking from there maybe?
the plastic bracket is clipped/glued to the plastic pipe. It shouldn\'t cause a leak there unless its cracked the pipe.
Only takes two min to take off and inspect, inside out.
You still getting the blowing exhaust sound? Pin pointed where its coming from yet?
I was getting a very similar problem the other night after i had been working on the car. My boost is set to 0.85 bar but it felt a bit flat and when i checked i was only seeing 0.68bar. I hadnt tightened the intercooler hoses well enough. Be aware they looked solid and didnt really move much but after a turn or two on the jubilee\'s and checking the were all sitting right i instantly retrieved 0.85 bar.
Just double check all the hose connections first,
Maybe try blanking off your bov to prove thats not leaking, it wont do any harm
i checked the black plastic hose at work yesterday and couldnt see any cracks but i made up another hose at work and pressure tested it to 35 psi and it was fine, put it on the car and still the same problem, so that is eliminated, havnt found the blowing on the exhaust yet as im sure you can understand it gets a bit tight by the downpipe but the turbos are cumming off next week so i can change all the gaskets. i will try blanking off the blow off though
any1 got any tips for removing the turbos with the engine still in?
i havto get the front crossmember off anyway to fis the leak from the sump, and dont really want to get the engine out if i can help it:Hammer
yes you can do it without the engine out .first disconect the steering rack on the join next to the turbos will give you more room then undo the four bolts holding the down pipe in then its just a case of working throught the nuts and bolts (seized) and little tin foil heat sheilds till you get to the turbo .its a pain and very time consuming but it is possible i have a thread called work started at 1818 theres pics with it all in the might help a little
thanks batman!
little question guys, right at the moment i am not seeing more than 8 psi of boost, i have some 3mm id vac hose in the tool box so i replaced a few visable hoses like the 1 to the crv, bov and a few more in that area, now! i am only seeing 6 psi of boost do you think 3mm id hose is too small and restricting the airflow as most people reccomend 4mm, ive given up for today and now im going to eat some burritos!
hey guys as it turns out after doing a bit of research i have been a complete spastic!, i changed the two hoses with the restrictor pills in for some silicone jobbies and now i am seeing even less boost!, so my question is what do these restrictor pills look like? do they stay in the rubber hose or fall out? am i now buggerd?

The restrictor pills are like brass washers with a pin hole in the middle and are used on the standard setup to maintain the 10-8-10 boost pattern. If you dont have them in (and yes they are in the pipe) then you\'ll be operating on wastegate spring pressure 0.5 bar i think....
Best bet now is to get a boost controller to be honest and do away with the wastegate pill
thanks for the reply smb
i swapped the pipes over for the old ones and i am now back to only having 8 psi, so im still on the hunt for the leak!
its a step forward tho
just topped up my oil as i have a leak from the sump and havto top up regularly and noticed a nice lining of gunk around the neck of the filler, seeing as i am a complete noob spazz is it normal to have a bit? as im not loosing water
thanks for your patience lol:Typing
Don\'t worry about gunk in the filler neck. It comes from condensation of water vapour from the air inside it. If you open it more (to fill) more air can get in so more gunk forms!
As long as its not a huuuuge amount you will be perfectly ok!
